Managed to track down a copy of this and, uhhhh.....
Well, I like that it gives more insight into the characters and stuff like that. But the writing style is awfully annoying at times. Also... this is a novelization of the TV series, and a lot of things it says seem to contradict the TV series. A lot of things (like, political situations, fights, etc.) that would usually hold water in the TV series, are described here in a way that makes them seem a lot less sensible.
Also, reading a giant robot fight in prose? Yeah, it just feels ridiculous. Especially the way they capitalize all the weapons. Like, I get "VARIS", because that sounds like an acronym (I might be completely wrong about that). But "SLASH HARKEN"? Yeah, it just doesn't look right. But such is the thing, I guess? Eh.
