"Sí, hay cosas más importantes que el dinero."/Yes, there are things more importante than money.
Love, pain, fear, betrayal, revenge... so many things money can't buy or pay. With beautiful lyrical language, this tale opens on the pain and sadness of a troubled young man, haunted by memories of a past auto accident that happened when he was a teenager. But, there is much more to the story, and its a bit of a mini-thriller. Dreaming a Crime is a short novela in the Leer en Espanol Graded Reader series. It is level one, so it is quite easy, and should be readable in one sitting for any early Spanish readers.
This paperback was not part of my original collection. I found it used on Amazon this week. It seems the new print runs include an audio cd, but the reviews say that it only reads portions of each chapter and is not very good. I have to agree that it seems pointless to have a cd to hear part of the book. I think the old editions are much nicer looking, so I stuck with that. This story was a good read, and a bit edgy... not something for kids. It is very well written for such a small 400 word vocabulary limit, and great practice for second language learners. And, wow! The ending!
¡Mi primer libro que he leído en español! Era un poco confuso, pero era divertido cuando podría entender más y más vocabulario. Ahora, quiero aprender el pasado y leer otro, pero antes voy a leer el libro de poesía bilingüe de Pablo Neruda.
