The Princess and the Jewels

Rate this book
A charming princess adventure story, with three-dimensional layered pages for the young reader to explore. Who has stolen the royal jewels? The royal procession cannot go ahead without them, and young Princess Arabelle is not pleased! This was to have been her very first procession – but why are the royal guards so reluctant to track down the thief? She soon learns that a dragon has taken the jewels, because only a dragon loves treasure so much that he would steal from the royal family. The guards are reluctant to take on such a mighty beast, but the Princess is not afraid! Follow Arabelle through royal chambers and out into the moonlit forest as saddles her horse and rides off to find the dragon’s cave in the side of the Magic Mountain. However, when she comes face to face with the dragon, the creature is not quite what she had been expecting... Young readers will love this thrilling tale, and the detailed pop-up illustrations will take them right into the heart of the adventure.

Peer through windows and explore deep, dark caves as Princess Arabelle heads off in search of the dragon that has dared to steal the royal jewels! • Three-dimensional layered pages allow the reader to explore the charming illustrations. Perfect reading for 4 to 9 year-olds, the sparkly glitter on the cover and on the conclusion of the story enhances children’s excitement and enjoyment.

Very cute. The art made me nostalgic, plus it was very sparkly.

The font was a bit hard to read though. Not sure what they were thinking with that.

A fun picture book, recommended.

If I added all my kids books I've saved since I were a child, or added all my girls' books, I would be here for the next ten years. So I'm just going to add favourites as I go along or can be bothered to enter them!

This was a book given to my daughter on her 3rd or 4th birthday, and I remember being blown away by its cuteness and beauty! Tonight I've pulled it from my eldest's shelves and read it to my 4 year old.

I love Samantha Chaffey's art!!! Her pictures send me back to childhood, and a dream world where a 12 page book would entertain me for hours, as I pored over every inch of each illustration. This book takes me back. It's beautiful!!

Going to order all the other books by her!! I love where her illustrations take me
