A very spare story, and the anguish that both characters experience is certainly evident. I sometimes found it a bit difficult to follow the transitions, and perhaps this is to some extent because of the translation from French...I wondered as I read if something got lost when translated into English. Nonetheless, the main gyst of the story got across, and it was a reasonably enjoyable read.
