Sometimes I forget why I read so much about the Holocaust as a teen. This book brought all of the best reasons back. Written from a Polish perspective, the lessons we need to preserve about the Holocaust are unfortunately still very important and very unlearned in America today.
This book is an excellent one for those who teach the Holocaust, are intending to teach it,who want to teach it, who are preparing their own rational for teaching the Holocaust, or who want to know why we should teach it. This book is a collection of essays and supplementary materials to show the range of discussion in Europe and especially Poland about Holocaust education. The writers come from every occupation and/or academic specialists. They recall their own memories, experiences with Jewish life and with the Holocaust. They also recall people they met who may have had differing opinions. One thing they all agree on is the necessity of Holocaust Education. This book is easily read a little at a time to give time for deep reflection. After reading, the reader should use what s/he read and learned to create his/her own rational for teaching the Holocaust.
