Adamoli paints a vivid picture of a beautiful, ancient, poor town in the Italian countryside. The stories about the people she meets and the gossip she has picked up throughout her time at the town are what make this autobiography great. Some are horrific, drawing on anecdotes from medieval times to Fascist Italy to modern day. Some are triumphant and warm. Her descriptions of people are devastatingly realistic and relatable. Definitely an enjoyable and interesting read, I would recommend.
