The last thing I want to be is a charity case. It’s part of why I was reluctant to come back home after I got myself blown up overseas with the Navy. But I need a place to heal - away from prying human eyes - and reconnecting with my family seems like the right thing to do.
It’s reconnecting with my best friend that really throws me for a loop, though. I was head over heels with him when I left, but he never seemed to return my feelings. It doesn’t take me too long to figure out that the sparks are still there - and that he feels them, too. The only question is: what do we do about it?
Alan
Having Sid back is the best news I’ve had in a long time. I’ve loved him for as long as I can remember - even asked for permission to court him when we were just teenagers. Discovering that we’re fated mates should be happiest moment of my life… but with my brother gunning for my position as pack alpha and a pack war looming on the horizon, I’m afraid that Sid’s moved from one war zone into another.
And when I learn he’s carrying my pup? As much as I want this life with him, that’s the sort of news that takes this situation from bad to worse. The biggest question is: do I have what it takes to protect them?
The Alpha’s Claim is a mpreg shifter novel featuring a haunted alpha, a military omega, and one guaranteed happy ending. Each book in the Gypsum series can be read in any order.
I thoroughly enjoyed returning to Gypsum and really enjoyed meeting Sid who was a darling and Alan, also lovely. I loved that these two best friends reconnect and discover how they feel about each other. The continued animosity between the packs and especially Sid's father after his brother was killed added another dimension to the story, as did Alan's awful brother Patrick. It was good to see how the Cook-Adams pack was getting on.

Story line is great and I loved the characters. I really enjoyed reading this book and I would recommend it! Unexpected twists and turns had me reading this book in one sitting. Great storyline and character development made this book a hot and enjoyable read!

I love Preston Walker's work. This book is just as phenomenal. Sid returns from tour injured both physically and mentally. Alan has problems with pack and his own brother. They both have feelings but is that enough? Definitely a must read.
I can't believe I've come to the end of the Wolves of Gypsum series full of stubborn Alphas, violent confrontations, family drama, and pack politics. I really enjoyed all that Mr. Preston Walker touched upon in this concluding book. He definitely wrap things up but first he made sure the reader was thoroughly entertained.
In this story pack dynamics and family dynamics especially between two brothers were volatile. Keeping their fated mating secret was a recipe for disaster for two best friends.
Stories featuring a Disabled shifter are not common. Are they still disabled in there shifter form? I also liked how an important Gathering that happens in the first book is held again in this final book of the series.
‘When the snow melts the economy does too’ – Welcome back to Gypsum
Preston Walker just continues to grow more sophisticated in his writing and in his choice of subjects, and if the photograph of Preston on his bio site is actually the author, then you know you are in for a man who knows how to write steamy erotica. Preston writes M/M paranormal shifter romances and does that very well. He is a pro on the M/M Mpreg Gay paranormal Romance (Mpreg being the goal of an Omega with the right Alpha male) – especially in this very sensitive THE ALPHA’S CLAIM, Book 4 in his Wolves of Gypsum series.
We now know the little town of Gypsum and its inhabitants, we meet the Navy veteran omega shifter Sid – ‘Arriving back in Gypsum at the peak of summer felt like being smacked in the face with nostalgia. I watched form behind the scratched bus window as fields of wild flowers and rolling hills shot past, set before a backdrop of green craggy mountains and glimpses of the dense San Juan forest. I’d last left Gypsum in deep winter, when this same scene had been stark white and lifeless…As I watched through the bus window, I let memories bubble to the surface and an unexpected feeling stirred deep inside m e- beneath the dread and anxiety, there was just a hint of excitement.’ And with that fine prelude the story opens.
The synopsis is tight and well written as an introduction to both main characters – ‘Sid - The last thing I want to be is a charity case. Alan - Having Sid back is the best news I’ve had in a long time. The biggest question is: do I have what it takes to protect them?’
Preston has created three-dimensional characters, not an easy task when molding wolf shifters! His prowess in delivering Mpreg wolf shifter alpha/omega men is highly polished and he just continues to grow as a successful author.
The last thing Sid wants is to be some charity case. But he’s heading home after getting his leg blown off so he can heal away from the prying eyes of humans. The only thing he’s looking forward to when he gets homes is to reconnect with his best friend, Alan. He’s been in love with him since they were kids but there was never any indication that Alan felt the same way about Sid.
Alan is Alpha of his pack. He’s trying his hardest to rid his pack of their reputation of being violent and mindless. But his brother is making things difficult for him when he questions him every step of the way. Alan knows it’s only matter of time before his brother challenges him for position of Alpha. Just when he’s falling into despair he finds out that his best friend, Sid is back in town. He’s loved Sid for a long time, even asking Sid’s father permission to court him when they were younger.
When Alan and Sid discover that they’re fated mates they’re not sure what it’ll mean for them. With a pack war on the horizon Alan worries that Sid will be going from one war zone to another.
As much as I enjoy these characters and the story I’m still feeling as there could be so much more. The story just seems unpolished and I wish the author would have put more into the story itself. With that being said, I still did enjoy the book, just like I’ve enjoyed the others in the series. I just think the story could be brought to another level.

No. Just no. I'm glad this is over and isn't that sad. I really had high hopes for this series, as I really like the writing style and the general trope. I won't say there was nothing in this book that I enjoyed, there were some nice scenes, I liked Sid and the idea of all the family drama. But really Alan is the worst alpha I have ever had to read about. He may want good things for his pack, but he does absolutely nothing to achieve them, all he ever does is cowering in front of other alphas. Repeatetly he takes time to "sort out his pack", but he doesn't ever even interact with any of them. The whole plot point of his brother trying to split the pack was ridiculous considering that Alan is most worried about others finding out about secrets that he keeps. Why does he even want that pack? And the sudden unexpected urgency to unite the packs... given that about five years have passed since this was first claimed to be an urgent life and death decision in this series... yawn. I did like the plot line surrounding Ted Decker at first, that all the drama from the previous book wasn't completely without consequences after all. But that turned out to totally unbelievable in the end. I'm not even willing to rate this up much for the romance part - it did have it's moments, but mostly it consisted out of boring repetetive sex scenes. Oh, and there were a lot of typos and missing words in this one.
i read this book as part of an arc program. This is the fourth book in the Wolves of Gypsum series. In this book, Sid returns home to Gypsum after he lost his leg while on tour as a nurse in the military and finds his parents not dealing well with the death of his alpha brother Malcolm. Sid is also looking forward to seeing Alan, his best friend since childhood and the alpha of his own pack. Alan wants to meet with the other alphas in hopes of joining their pack, but his brother Patrick is causing problems, making Alan think he is going to challenge him. Alan and Sid reconnect and are delighted to see they still have a strong connection. When they move to a romantic connection, they are surprised to see they are fated mates. Sid is happy, but Alan doesn't want to claim him until the issues with the packs are settled. Sid's father is also against them being together because he thinks Alan is helping to hide information about Malcolm's death. I liked this book, it followed the story well and added another romance. I really liked Sid, i thought he was strong and handled his injury well. I love how Alan didn't treat Sid differently and just tried to help him, without pity. I loved them together and thought they made a great couple. Great one.
I love Gypsum. This book is a great addition to the series. Sid and Alan reconnecting and dating in spite of the odds, is a wonderful thing to experience. Alan Spence has been working behind the scenes to get his pack to unite as part of the Cooks-Adams pack. He wants the support Ted Decker, Sid's father. But Ted is bitter, blaming the Cooks and Adams's for his alpha son's death. They are not at fault, but he won't see that, He doesn't want Sid to associate with any of them. Despite losing part of his leg in the military, Sid is trying to live a normal life. He sees himself as damaged goods. Alan doesn't see his disability, he only sees the man he's been in love with for years. Alan is Sid's fated mate, and you can't fight fate. So they defy Sid's father and bond. Alan's brother Patrick, wants to rip the Spence pack apart and start his own pack. More politics, jealousy, and it all comes to a boil. Secrets are revealed. Reconciliations occur. HEA is assured. You will love this book. It is the ending you have waited for. I could not put it down. This book contains adult themes, language, MM sex, Mpreg and violence [this Is a shifter book], and is intended for mature 18+ readers.
Sid is back home in Gypsum after a tour of duty he is an injured military nurse missing his left leg from the knee down he didn’t tell anyone that he was coming home so his mother was surprised but happy, things have really changed since his brothers death 3 years ago especially with his father who is losing it and wants revenge on whoever killed his son. Sid’s mother was telling him about Alan who is Sid’s childhood friend and crush who is the alpha of his own pack now. Alan goes to see Sid’s father over pack politics and Alan thought that he was seeing things Sid was sitting on the porch with his mother and Alan noticed that Sid only had half a leg then something inside Alan changed when he saw Sid. My heart went out to Sid he was just a nurse not in actual combat but coming back home to his father wanting revenge for his alpha son while ignoring his injured omega son really peeved me off. But this is a fantastic story and I highly recommend this book it’s definitely well worth the read.
I have read many shifter books, and this one really tugged at the heart strings. Sid is back home after his service in the military, at least almost all of him is. His big brother, an alpha was killed and as an omega he feels not quite whole being home. Alan is a strong alpha with a large pack, with so many packs around there is always some trouble, but his is closer to home. Both Sid and Alan feel what is between them and so many absticals stand in there way of being happy. I love that the book has made Sid the perfect mate for Alan, and Alan and Sid have accepted each other for they way they are, troubled families and all. But Alan needs to find a way to bring them together, keep peace within the packs. Such a great read to see how to fight to make a relationship work, and keep outside influences in a place of peace. Great HEA

This is a fascinating & intriguing Mpreg wolf shifter romance, & the fourth book in the series “Wolves of Gypsum” The characters are well-developed & react with believable confusion & realistic emotional feelings to the situations they find themselves in. The story-line and plot is excellent, well-thought out & written, it keeps the reader’s attention. There is: a omega wolf shifter & military nurse (Sid Decker) returns home to recuperate from a disability received while in the navy & reconnects with his best friend & alpha fated mate (Alan Spence) but there are deep undercurrents of unease & a pack war on the horizon, Alan’s manipulative brother (Patrick), wolf shifters, pack issues/politics, family issues, fated mates, twists & turns, intrigue, threats, danger, deceit, betrayal, conflict, violence, manipulations, disagreements, confrontations, warnings, complications, surprises, ultimatums, negotiations, compromises, steamy scenes, love, contentment & a HEA.
Alan and Sid has been best friends since childhood. Somehow, mom Irene always knew, they had potential for so much more.
Did went off to college and the Army, leaving his heir apparent brother Malcom behind with their parents, and Malcom had a bullying bunch of friends. Predictably, Malcom met a bad end. Their father Ted seems to have gone rather off the deep end since then.
Did loses a limb in combat, and comes back to his pack to recuperate. His speculates this might give him an opportunity to bond with his mourning father, but Sid had no idea how suspicious Ted had grown.
Ted and Alan have a chance to build something great together if they can both wrap their minds around them needing to work together for that.
Politics and family make a lethal mix on the way to building something bigger and possibly better.
Intense KU m/m read!

I wasn't familiar with the mpreg shifter genre until now and...that was interesting. I'd signed up to review this by accident, to be honest, but no regrets. It's hard for me to divorce myself from the logistics issue but sure, why not? How much verisimilitude can I demand from shapeshifting romance?
"The Alpha's Claim" is apparently the 4th in the author's "The Wolves of Gypsum" series but it works just fine as a standalone. I can tell the author has put work in building the greater world of Gypsum and its pack politics. It's a standard set up but the romance is sweet and the sex is...logistically interesting from a lube standpoint.
I'm sort of horrible at reviewing, aren't I? I honestly have no idea what's out there for the mpreg omegaverse so it's hard for me to evaluate by its standards but yes, i would say this is decent read. It wasn't fire but there's certainly enough flame to get you warm.
Sid has been wounded and lost part of his leg and now he's home with his parents, while recover and get back on his feet. It's not easy being back home, his parents are still mourning the death of his brother. His father isn't making things easier with the accusation that the other packs killed his son or know more than they are saying and his paranoid behavoir. Alan want's to join the pack alliance, but is having problems with his own pack, especially his brother that wants to challenge Alan and take control of the pack. Alan and Sid has been bestfriends since childhood and realise that they are mates when they meet again. Sid wants to be strong and taken care off at the same time, he's happy when they mate but is concerned with all that is going on. Sid wants them to work together and make it work. Alan think he has to take care of everything on his own and pushes Sid away. I got a bit annoyed with Alan and his secrecy and not wanting to involve Sid and they are bit cute together.
This was such a cute and sweet story between two bestfriends who went on sperate paths just go have fate bring them back together again. Side left shortly after the tragedy with his bother getting killed and didn't expect to go back home until he lost his legged while deployed working as a nurse in the military. He didnt expect to pick things back up with Alan when he returned home but it was almost as like they've never been apart when they got together again. There was a lot happening that threatened their relationship and they were forced to hide from some many people until.the truth accidently comes out and Alan finally makes the hard decision to take down the threat and he plans to do whatever it takes to protect his mate and unborn child. I read this one in one day and really enjoyed both characters and their relationship. This was very easy read and I was immediately invested in the characters.
Sid returned to Gypsum to recover from an injury and encounters teenage love Alan. Military Nurse and Omega Wolf Shifter Sid Decker returns home to Gypsum to recover from losing his lower left leg finds his father has not moved on from the death of his Alpha son Malcolm and is obsessed with it to the point he is almost becoming unstable. He is happy to see Alpha Alan Spence the man he has loved since he was a teenager but the way Alan and his father get on realizes pack relations in Gypsum are at a dangerous point. Alan is having problems with his younger brother wanting to split the pack or replace him but he is happy to see the man he loves back in town. Then he discovers that Sid is fated mate and things become explosive.

If you want to take a stand, do it standing up. Alan seems like a nice guy, trying to do the right thing for his pack. He recognizes not having a mate puts him at a disadvantage. Sid returning Vet recovering from losing his left leg. They were best friends from childhood. Sid is surprised how Ted is taking Malcolm's death. The intrigue of Gypsum pack dynamics continues to be enthralling. Will there be a pack war? Can Alan and Sid see they are more than friends? Can Ted get beyond his instinctive anger? Is Ted's instinct not getting old? I wanted to like Alan because he seems like a stand up guy, but he hesitates too much and doesn't seem to know what to do with the knowledge he gets. I felt like rushing through the book to get my answers, but I slowed down to enjoy the nuances. It was nice getting a glimpse of Henry/Jim and Lance/Mason. I received an ARC from Booksprout for a review.
The Alpha’s Claim is a solid, fast-paced story that tells the Spence pack story and brings closure to not only the Decker pack thread, but the overarching plot that began in book two of the series. At the center of this story are Alan and Sid who have been separated for 12 years. When Sid returns to Gypsum to recover from an injury gained as a result of his military service, he and Alan rekindle their friendship and discover that they were always more then best friends.
The telling of this story brings the reader full circle and gives us closure on many of the outstanding storylines while leaving room for more if the author chooses to continue the series. A well written, well rounded story!

This is a wonderful story about Sid and Alan. Sid returns home to his parents' home to recuperate after being injured at war as a nurse. While at home, he is thrilled to spend time with his best friend Alan from his youth that he hasn't seen since he left right after high school. Sid finally gets to reveal his thoughts and feelings to Alan that he's kept to himself all these years. The characters are strong, emotional and living life to the best of their abilities while coping with stressors, wants, needs and passion. The storyline is so realistic with the daily struggles, dealing with responsibilities and obligations and trying to juggle all this along with wants and needs. Great read!

Sid reluctantly comes home after losing part of a leg after an incident while in the Navy. His father is as difficult as ever - even more so, and has not let go of his brother's dearth. Alan is sill in town, though - a young alpha of his own pack, and the best friends find solace with each other. But although they are fated mates, the dramas amongst the packs in Gypsum, and the fact that Alan's brother is fighting him for control of the pack means that Sid must, for his own safety. leave the area. Will their relationship survive all of the complications?

The fourth instalment from the Wolves of Gypsum series. Alan is the Alpha of the Spencer pack. Sid is the Omega son of Ted Decker, the Alpha of the Decker pack. Alan and Sid have been the best of friends since childhood but they haven’t seen each other since Sid moved away to join the military where he trained as a nurse. Sid had briefly come home for the funeral of his Alpha brother, Malcolm, but left almost immediately. Now Sid was back in Gypsum, injured and in pain. Alan is struggling to keep his pack together with his brother undermining him at every turn.

Sid and Alan were friends from a very young age. Sid left to join the military. Alan stayed and became alpha of his clan. When Sid came home it was to recover from his injury. He lost his leg over seas. Alan and Sid went out to catch up on old times. They found out they each had a crush on the other. The problems were Sid's father and Alan's brother. They worked it out and had a son. With this came a HEA ending.

This series is great. The storyline for this book is wonderful and each character has their own personal and familial set of issues to deal with. The author pairs those issues with realistic responses, actions, and emotions. The action, suspense, and drama drew me in and had me cheering for Sid and Alan. It was a such an entertaining read. I really don't want this series to end...it just keeps getting better.

The Alpha's Claim by Preston Walker is the fourth book in The Wolves of Gypsum series. This is a fun and exciting read. We have a threat of a pack war, hint of betrayal, suspense, action, and a friends to lovers romance. Sid and Alan are great characters that you find yourself liking and rooting for. Definitely a great addition to this series.
I received an advanced reader's copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review and recommendation
Alan is overwhelmed being the Alpha of his pack and trying to do what he believes is the best for them and not falling into his father's trials. He continually acts unsure of himself and places Sid secondary to everything. The blurb says Sid was in the Navy, but the book never mentioned he was a Hospital Corpsmen, it was all very vague reference to him being a nurse in the military.

Sid and Alan have quiet the journey to their Happily Ever After. It is filled with a grieving father, a disruptive son, pack disruption and most of all lots of fated love. Truly I think the best in this series.

Sid left Gypsum to go to college and then he joined the military. He's now coming home minus part of his left leg. Alan is Alpha of his pack and Sid's best friend. Alan is having trouble keeping his pack together. Can these two help each other sort out their problems? I'm enjoying this series and this book.
Sid and Alan have a difficult journey full of ups and downs, doubts, family issues, insecurities, and threats to get through before their intense passion and long held love has a chance to survive and allows them to have peace and a hard won HEA.
