As a physical artefact, the book’s a disappointment. It’s so tightly bound that the page block seems vulnerable to cracking. The font is absurdly small. The cover ‘art’ is banal crud - ironic, given Roberts’ redoubtable skills in this area. $30 feels hefty to me.
As expected, a rambling memoir. The topic set’s diverse - by no means confined to matters literary; not that that would have troubled me one iota. Indexed.
Having read “The Event” (1989), and now this, I look forward to getting my teeth into “The Lordly Ones” (1986).
