I found this book really interesting and I liked learning about the homestead process and how (some) people found themselves in Southeast Alberta. I would have liked to learn a bit more about the day-to-day things that the homesteaders dealt with and there was basically nothing in the book about women and things they went through (although, I mean, its a man's memoir, so I guess I didn't expect that), but I guess I was just hoping for more detail on the chores and way of life. There were a lot of details about weather, the prairie landscape, and the legalities and details behind "homesteading". Overall, I'm glad I read this book.
