A Gift disguised as madness, a soldier with dreams of the impossible, and a father who’d do anything to get his way…
Chlodie Invermore has been blessed with the gift of Sight, but her father has always perceived it as madness, and after long years of hearing this, she now hides her visions. A vision of a wounded soldier leads her to a handsome ruffian who needs her help. When he saves her life, any thoughts of avoiding him are forever silence, especially when the two spend time alone and she realizes that they must now wed.
The beautiful Highlander knows that her father will never approve of the match, and when they are separated by circumstances beyond their control, she must make a hard decision. Then visions of a young boy in danger spur her to action, and the two meet again, as if Fate has destined them to be together. However, his honor takes priority over love, and she wonders if they made a mistake when they married.
Duty-Oriented Soldier
Domnall Dunning is the son of Baron Dunning, and dedicated to service as a soldier. It’s his dream to redeem the Highlands, even after the terrible defeat at Culloden, no matter the personal cost. When he accidentally meets the love of his life, everything changes, but he’s still bound by honor to do whatever he can do to rid the Highlands of the hated Hanoverians if possible.
Wounded, separated from his new bride, and facing insurmountable odds yet again, Domnall must choose between duty and love. His heart is pulling him one way, but the life of a soldier leads in a different direction…and he must decide quickly. He’s been pressed into service by a superior officer, and even though he may well be a madman, Domnall must follow orders.
A Love that Lasts
Now that Domnall and Chlodie have wed, they are tied together for life, body and soul, but it seems that everything is working to keep them apart. They must find a way to be together, even if their families do not approve, even if it costs them everything. For a soldier constantly on the move, and a woman with the Gift, life will not be easy—and death is around every bend in the road!
Can Chlodie choose between madness and love—or are her visions of the future leading her deeper into the depths of insanity?
Will Domnall find a way to follow his heart when duty and honor lead him in a different direction—or should he ignore the longings of his heart altogether?
"A Highlander's Gifted Love" is a standalone historical Scottish romance novel of approximately 60,000 words. No cliffhangers, pure content and an awesome happily ever after, guaranteed to ignite your imagination in one sitting.
Chlodie has the 'gift' of Sight for which she has been shamed by her father. Now as a 28 year old spinster she receives a vision of a handsome redheaded man being stabbed three times on a battlefield. Sure enough a week later the wounded Lieutenant Dunning and his sergeant show up on her father's property. By the time she has changed his dressings, we can see how attracted she is to him. When she goes for a short visit to her neighbors at Duncliffe, their seer gives her a different understanding of herself and her gift, and when Dunning saves her life, she realizes she is hopelessly in love and makes plans to wed immediately and secretly. Thus begins the love story of Dumnall and Chlodie, through many dangerous adventures during which Chlodie learns to trust her gift and Dumall's steadfast love and they gather quite a few new and devoted friends to themselves. She is a different person when they return to meet up with her father leading to a HEA! Ferguson's books are the best and this is another five star recommendation!
Chlodie finds a wounded soldier by the stables. She realizes this is the man she had a vision of. She tends his wounds. Domnall Dunning needs to leave to keep Chlodie safe from any rebels who may be following him. They meet again at Duncliff. They marry but he is a dedicated soldier and must follow orders. The plot is well constructed with danger, suspense, betrayal, action, and love. Well written. Will their love last? Will Chlodie's Gift of Sight be more than she can handle? I voluntarily received a copy of this book and I'm voluntarily posting a review. My opinion is entirely my own.
Most of the books that these great authors of Highlander stories have written, the women who are seers, are women who are sought out and praised. Yes, some bad guys don't like them, thinking that they are evil. But, you know, when your own father thinks you have rocks in your head, it is kinda hard to believe that you can do good things, and help others. Chlodie's father thinks she has bats in her belfry, and puts her down every chance he can. Then comes the man who falls for her, and believes what she is telling him. And she introduces him to another seer. Emilia Ferguson doesn't write connected books, she writes about connected families.
Delightful Highland Tale filled with action, suspense, danger, betrayal, romance and love. I enjoyed Domnall and Bethann’s conversations and antics, they made me smile quite a lot. Chlodie’s gift of the Sight, has been a bane of her life, until she meets Domnall and realizes that her vision was a warning. I love that some of our favourites from previous books make an appearance in this story. This story was so intriguing that it kept me turning the pages to find out what would happen next. An enjoyable afternoon, well spent.
I love this tale that weaves love and danger. I enjoyed the relationship between Chlodie and Domnall. Chlodie thought she would never find love due to her "gift". When the man of her vision shows up wounded she wants to help. Though they know he must leave they fight their attraction. But fate has a way of putting them back together. Amid fighting and a demented leader of Jacobites leading Domnall and others into chaos, Chlodie and Domnall have a love worth fighting for. I received a complimentary copy and I am voluntarily reviewing.
A mystic charmer. With the gift of sight, Chlodie had been treated all her life as she was mad and forbidden by the family to mention her gift. A vision leads her to Duncliff. There the man from her vision Domnall. This is a story of action, suspense, with danger running through the whole story. I enjoyed it a great deal I loved the mystical theme in this well-written highland story. I am so glad I took the time to read.
I enjoyed this story a lot it has adventure, danger, mystery, betrayal, romance and strong characters who are believable and real. Emma travels to Scotland with her family to celebrate William's birthday only to told they are announcing her engagement to William. While there her father is murdered and his family is accused. Liked how the relationship developed between Emma and William and watching her grow. Recieved an ARC of this book and leaving my honest opinion.
Emilia Ferguson’s A Highlander’s Gifted Love give the reader everything to keep them interested and want to keep reading! You have two characters that fall in love at first sight, but society keeps the two apart, the lady has a special gift of seeing into the future that she’s been told makes her a crazy woman, and adventure to bring us to exciting happenings! Of course, there is romance, adventure and heartbreak, but isn’t that what keeps us reading? I know it does me.
This gifted story has great characters and the adventure continues with Domnall and Bethann finding their way home from the war but since Domnall is injured they have to stop and they come upon Ivermore House where Chlodie lives with her not so loving father. Their is something special between them right off, and when they touched they both knew. Enjoyed the story line. I was given an ARC by author without obligation. I am providing an honest review.
Ms. Ferguson has a way with her Highland novels. Here is my favorite quote from this book: ""But I can promise ye that I will never leave ye. Whatever stuff the soul is - well, mine will be here, right beside yours, until the day yours moves to join mine. I can promise that."" Wonderful plot, wonderful characters. Warms the heart for sure! Really loved Domnall, so darn sweet! I am in love with this Highland romance!
The only thing that bothers me (well 2 things) 1 - not being correct with names in certain places in the story but I know who is talking and 2 - in this story the facts of her father not being correct from the previous book! But I overlook that! I loved the story and characters!! 💜💜💜💜 Now on to the last story in the Duncliffe Series! Then the Iron Series 😊😊
Chlodie sees a wounded Highland warrior in a vision. On the battlefield, Domnall is injured. They meet when he stumbles upon her father’s lands and she attends his wounds. Were these two drawn together by her gifted sight? This book has many good characters and Highland battle action.
