Mercy Davis, left alone in the world when her mother passed away, must leave her home in the goldfields of California and create a new life for herself. With no money whatsoever and no friends to ask for help, she takes a risk and hops aboard an eastward-bound train, heading for Denver, where she believes she will start afresh.
Heston Granger leads a simple life working at the railroad station. Everything in his world is predictable and routine until he opens the door to the stock car and discovers not only a dozen cows without an owner, but a stowaway who happens to be a young woman. As he learns her story, he finds himself eager to help her reach for her dreams - and perhaps a forgetful angel is just who they need to give them a little boost in the right direction.
Amelia C. Adams is a wife, a mother, and a novelist. She spends her days dreaming up stories and her nights writing them down. Her biggest hero is her husband, and you might just see bits and pieces of him as you read her novels.
She loves all things historical and enjoys learning about days gone by, but she's glad she was born more recently (she won't say how recently or not recently) because the Internet is awesome, and she's glad she doesn't have to wash her clothes by hand in a galvanized tub. She has hit Amazon bestseller status twice, once for A Clean Slate and once for A Clear Hope.
As she runs, hidden in the shadows toward she not what. She meets a rail road worker who will change her life in the most wonderful way. The rail road worker had one more train to unload before she went home for the night. Little did he know what awaited him. Their journey together lead them to marriage.
Another great book in a great series. I'm really enjoying this series and all the characters in Creed and Bachelor. I loved Hester and Mercy's story and look forward to more books in the series.
Cute story. Guardian Angel Maine lends some comic relief to the story for sure. Mercy and Heston are both new to the series. I found the book a very enjoyable read
I loved Mercy and Hestin's story. There was so much kindness in the small town of Creede. This is a super sweet novella about making your dreams come true. A sweet, clean romance.
This is a fine story of Mercy Davis and her meet up with a Mr Heston Garvey. There is an interesting guardian Angel that enters the picture too. They realize they love each other. 5
RIDING THE RAILS brings us a daring young woman who simply wants a better life than what she’s known hitching a ride on the cargo cars of the railroad on her way to Denver, CO – although this time she ended up in a cattle car with some very stinky and vocal cows. Next stop, Creede, CO and perhaps her future if she’s open-minded enough to set aside one dream for the reality right in front of her.
I loved Mercy and Heston together. The young woman in disguise and the hard-working railroad employee with a heart of gold fit so well together – and with some help or, well, some confused help from Mercy’s guardian angel they’ll have themselves an adventure and a happily ever after… eventually.
It’s always a treat to return to Creede (how I’ll miss this town when I finally finish this series – although spin-offs work quite well, too) and see how or who the angels will be helping find each other this time. A new guardian angel who doesn’t quite have it all together yet will make mistakes, but with love, good intentions and a unique way where things work out well in spite of it all. If you’ve loved the Cowboys & Angels series, then you’ll fall in love once again. A short story but with a powerful, loving touch – I’d definitely recommend this one.
Heston - works at the railroad station Mercy- looking for a better future I enjoyed reading this captivating story that is fantastically written with lovable characters. This story is about 2nd chances in life including for a forgetful meddling guardian angel. Their story has a wonderful HEA.
I love the angel in this one. Guardian Angel Maine just has a hard time getting the details right but her heart is in the right place and it all works out, maybe not as originally planned but with good results. Heston is the perfect example of a true gentleman. Mercy has determination and grit. Together they are just about perfect. Amelia C. Adams has done it again.
A stowaway desperate to get to denver and start a fresh new life. A kind hearted railroad employee takes time to help the stowaway. A young boy needing fed and a place to sleep shakes up Heston's world when it turns out to be a young woman. Mercy is a beautiful soul and a need to be saved is now his mission. Enjoyed this greatly
This is the 41st story in the Cowboys and Angels series. The heroine is a new character from California and a stowaway on the train. The hero is a worker at the train station. The secondary characters are from previous books. The guardian angel is a quirky angel stumbling along but trying her best. This is a delightful series.
Cute story about a young man who had to choose between helping the woman he cares about achieve her dream or following his own heart. Well maybe, just maybe everyone’s dreams can come true. Lots of fun and a great ending.
I gave Riding the Rails a five star 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 rating because story was just that good! I love the character Mercy. I wouldn't mind seeing her pop up in another book as a best friend or something.
Every single character was special. Loved the "inept" angel; Mercy was a treat. Really enjoyed the humour in it all. The ' cherry on top ' was the way Mercy got to ' pay it forward ' so soon after she was blessed. Enjoyed every minute of it!
Amelia C. Adams always delivers! Mercy and Heston are such a fun couple. Their bantering back and forth kept everything so lighthearted. Mrs Maine just might be my favorite Angel.
Excellent addition to the Cowboys and Angels series. Delightful characters, full of life, love, kindness and caring. Heartwarming story with a sweet, slightly scattered angel. Wonderful read!
Very good story. Jumping on a train with out buying a ticket can be a new experience. You will have to read to see how the train ride take Mercy on that ride
