A frustrating read in many ways, as the author's referencing system is effectively non existent! The importance of work she is doing, and the influence on later scholars of women's literary history, however, cannot be ignored.

This is an older text, but a useful primer on a neglected field in literary history, especially in the sections on periodical culture pre-19th century.
