Roy and Deb Haggerty along with the Holy Spirit have produced a spectacular volume for the believer who longs for deeper intimacy with the triune God. With a voice and style that mirrors the great saint A. W. Tozer, this dream team has composed a practical action plan based on a sound interpretation of the Scriptures. Experiencing God’s Love in a Broken World boldly addresses topics that are often the subject of debate. The Haggertys present a palpable view of man’s free will in the context of God’s sovereignty, for example, that cleared up three decades of my confusion on the topic. They also effectively distinguish between a soul-level experience with God and one fueled by mere emotion. The subjects and order of the chapters take the reader on a progressive journey that demonstrates how learning more about our loving Heavenly Father yields a deeper desire to worship Him. And the beautiful thing about God’s economy is the more we worship Him, the more joy we’ll experience. Roy and Deb hold the reader’s hand with guidance through application questions at the end of each chapter because when we can articulate our beliefs, they become a solid platform for our worship for the glory of God. Experiencing God’s Love in a Broken World is a resource I will keep in my spiritual toolbox that I will re-read many times and refer to often as I purpose to share the love of God with a hurting generation for the glory of God.

I love it when an author includes the purpose of their book (at least in the case of nonfiction) right in the front, which makes it a lot easier to determine if the author achieved his or her goal. In this case, the Haggertys include it in paragraph No. 1 of the prologue. They says that this book "... is designed to encourage people who are Christians to know God more intimately and to serve him more effectively." That goal began at the forefront of each section and carried through the entire book. I was impressed--and inspired. Five stars.

You can read this day by day in the same manner as a devotional, each little section of a chapter on each day, or--if you're feeling the need for some sensory overload--go ahead and read the whole thing nonstop. Personally, I'm afraid that would stretch my sensibilities to the outer limits. I do recommend this book highly. I think it would work especially well in a Bible Study. Thank you, Roy and Deb Haggerty, for all the research, experience, and devotion you put into this work.

Biblical Insights into God’s Love

Or you can learn through one on one discipleship from a mature Christian.. Or you can read and study EXPERIENCING GOD’S LOVE IN A BROKEN WORLD, A SPIRITUAL JOURNEY.

Roy and Deb Haggerty have written a short volume which is packed with Bible verses and sound theological teaching. This teaching is combined with Questions for Thought at the end of each chapter where readers can capture their personal connection to the teaching. The result is a powerful little book for young and experienced Christians.

I enjoyed reading EXPERIENCING GOD’S LOVE IN A BROKEN WORLD and read it cover to cover. I highly recommend this book.

In their book, Roy and Deb Haggerty give us a cogent yet simple look at the basics of Christianity, suitable for both new and mature believers. My husband and I (both believers for decades) were blessed and encouraged as we read through this study during our morning devotionals. Highly recommend!
