My church used this book for the 6-week Lenten study. Many people seem to have found this book beneficial. There were many eye-opening concepts. Some of the concepts include prayer is a privilege, not a duty; prayer is relationship; and the goal of prayer is to live God’s life in the world. This book goes over basics as well, such as the Lord's prayer and psalms. The best exercise for me was to describe the last two years of my prayer life in terms of highs and lows. I was praying less and less during that time period! This book encourages us to pray every day. The realization that I was praying less and less accelerated the increase in my prayers even more. This book definitely changed my prayer life and made my Lenten experience special. It was great to go through this together with my congregation. I got to know my small group members a lot better by sharing the experience and witnessed Him in our experience. I rated it 4 stars only because time commitment to this book was a bit too much. You need approximately 30 minutes a day every day for 6 weeks. I have a mother of 9-month old with a full-time job, and I never finished all the study for the week before the group meeting. The content is great though. I will definitely go back and read the book.

If you suffer from the agony of prayerlessness, this book may provide a way out. Dunnam gives concrete assignments for individuals and groups that lead to a richer and more satisfying prayer life. I highly recommend this book for small groups. The group I did this book with developed a wonderful spiritual bond and closeness to each other, as well as finding deep meaning in our collective and individual prayers.
