Jesus Was Loved. He Was Hated. But He Was Never Ignored
Some people think Jesus was easy-going. Hardly. Everything he did and said sparked passionate reaction. He polarized people. Some adored Jesus to the point of dying for him. But those who feared and hated him ended up killing him.
If You’ve Never Looked Deep into Both Perspectives . . . It’s Time You Did • Discover the surprising things those who loved him did—and how you can do the same • Dig into those who hated him and avoid their tragic mistakes • See yourself in each character—the good and the bad—and face some fascinating choices
Plus, at the end of each example, you’ll find a thought-provoking question that will stir you into action.
Will this book challenge you? Yes. Will it make you uncomfortable (in a positive way)? Absolutely. Will it change your life as you look at the people who surrounded Jesus in a way you’ve never seen them before? Without question.
Peter DeHaan writes about biblical Christianity. He urges Christians to push past status quo faith and reexamine their spiritual practices.
Many people feel church let them down. Peter seeks to encourage them as they search for a place to belong.
He’s not afraid to ask tough questions. This sometimes makes religious people squirm, but he does this out of love to encourage them to become more of who God intends them to be.
Peter earned his doctorate from Trinity College of the Bible and Theological Seminary, awarded with high distinction.
I read my Bible through every year. I study my Bible at church. I read passages associated with devotionals. In doing all of that, there can still be a disconnect between the stories and the people mentioned in the Bible who were integral witnesses to Jesus' earthly ministry.
Once again, Peter DeHaan has created an exhaustive resource of the I individuals who interacted with Jesus. A must have resource for any student of The Bible and follower of Jesus.
I enjoyed reading this book. DeHaan writes clearly, richly, and lightly. The book's chapters are short but informative, and they each end with an important question or two to ponder and apply. This is a must-have addition to any Believer's literary arsenal.
This easy-to-read biographical collection of Biblical contemporaries of Jesus provides quick insite into how people in the New Testiment reacted and interacted with Jesus and His message. This book can be read straight through or used as a reference book to look up specific characters. Peter writes about each participant in a casual format making it easier to connect and feel like you're part of the story. Each entry includes a short but detailed descriptions of the character; many I knew about, but I definitely learned about some new.
