This work examines the extent to which the electoral success of incumbent legislators poses a threat to democratic government in nine Canada; Denmark; France; Germany; Great Britain; Israel; Japan; New Zealand; and the United States.
This is an edited volume, featuring chapters by a variety of students of politics. The chapters are a bit uneven, but the volume considers an important issue--the extent to which incumbents' political success might threaten democracy. Case not proved, but the questions raised illuminate debate.
