This version says the stories were collected by Donald Stokes, retold by Barbara Ker Wilson and illustrated by Tony Oliver.
This was lying around in the guest house where I was staying. All new stories for me though one was almost identical to an ApMa story even though it was attributed to an island off the north coast.
The forward talked about how quickly traditional Papuan culture is being destroyed and replaced by Western commercialism. Written in 1975 but no less true today.
Enjoyable and interesting stories, I wish I could do a better job at remembering and retelling such. Verbal storytelling is such an art form and one I'd like to improve at.
