Gateway House: A Western Story
Ed Morgan was a law-abiding rancher, a widower who had lost both his wife and his child to childbirth. Summoned by his younger brother, Ben, who has just been released from prison, Ed hopes for a reconciliation between them. But he finds his brother near death, with a final request. He wants Ed to find the money he buried before his capture and imprisonment, half of which belongs to Honey Travers, the girl whom Ben loved then and loves now, who has been waiting years for his release. A WDO. Western Adventure/A Bank Robbery/ The Man Who Hid the Money was Arrested and Sent to Prison
WDO. has. penned a western adventure about two brothers. One StYx straight and the other become a bank robber. When the bank robbers .and a big haul the one of the men, the good guys brother, hides the money, and then he Is arrested. Score he is released from prison he tells his brother where the money is and tells him to take his wife and the money and run. This is an excellent read for the genre.....DEHS

First published in a shorter form in 1953, 'Gateway House' is an expanded Western novel with some very traditional ingredients, typical of the author. The expansion means that some areas seem a little padded out -the occasional four-letter words are also likely to be later additions. The plot is irritating in places - the main character is often dim or at best slow on the uptake, so it seemed to stretch credibility a little too far to expect him to win out against intelligent villains. Otherwise, an okay read.

This is not a genre I generally read. I am doing a book challenge that includes reading a western. I thought this book seemed rushed, and I didn't feel like that characters were fully flushed out. I'm not sure if that is typical of the genre, but to me it just made the overall feeling of the book as MEH.

Solid western, it has less action then some but there is a lot of scheming after 50 thousand in buried gold. Enough so that you never really know who is with who or only after the money.
Recommended, in fact if you are not into westerns that much this one may be perfect. It is more intrigue then a straight shoot em up like a lot in the genre.

Decent Western
A good read. Decent action although the relationships between the various characters seemed stilted and somewhat unlikely.Still, not a bad effort .

Great action book set in the old west. It’s a story of greed, love, hate and revenge. It was hard to put down, and my normal genre of book is not westerns!
