I found this book at half price books for only $1!! I think the cover is adorable and I was excited to get into these 2 reads!
Both stories are set in Texas, which is awesome, since that's where I'm from!
The first story was honestly crappy. Really repetitive, boring, and, in the end, THEY DIDN'T EVEN CATCH THE BAD GUY, Boyd Sullivan!!! The writing felt really cheap and lazy.
Then it KIND OF made sense, because I realized that the next book is the next in a series. They were after Boyd Sullivan in the second book, too. Weird. 🤦🏻♂️
The second story was much better in terms of the romance and action, but it was still repetitive. Heidi and Nick are cool people (actually likable!), and you could actually see their love develop, unlike story #1!
I've read three of these Love Inspired Suspense books and it seems like they're all the same. It's like each book has one template (like a mad libs game), and the different authors just switch the names of the cops, criminals, K9 police dogs, and state the story is set in.
I only spent a dollar on this 2-in-1 book, and it wasn't a waste. The cop/K9 dog books are just really shallow. No wonder they can pump out 8 of these books IN A MONTH... they're all the same, just with little things changed. Plus, since they're so similar, they aren't memorable. At all. 🤷🏻♂️
⚠️The love inspired suspense line isn't horrible, but if you want to check out love inspired, I suggest checking out love inspired historical, or just plain love inspired which is contemporary romance. These others actually have depth and amazing storylines + characters!!
