Rookie Warden

Fearless, principled, and naively navigating a man's world...
Catherine is one of the first women game wardens in the U.S. Her first year is fraught with danger, pinching poachers and working with wardens who aren’t thrilled to partner with her. Cat uses her wit and good judgment when firepower and brawn are not available, winning the hearts of those who put her to the test.

A novel written by one of the 1st female Maine game wardens based on her own experiences. A bit elementary in the writing, but enjoyed reading the tale.

I really enjoyed this book! The characters are real - no fake drama, just what I believe is a realistic picture of living in a less populated area of our country and some of what it means to be a game warden.

Its a very basic writing style and the story tends to jump around. As a huge fan of Paul Doiron I was looking forward to this book. However, the story line isn't as strong as it could be and overall not up to its fullest potential.

I enjoyed the story very much and will definitely read Rookie Warden's Second Year. I wish many of the scenes had been a bit more fleshed out. If I could give it 3.5 stars I would.
The book was good at giving glimpse of what the life of a state game warden is really like.

It was an enjoyable and fun to read about the many situations that a game warden would encounter let alone a woman game warden.
