It was overall a good book to read for me. I always thought that I am a pretty forgiving person, but then I realized that I had held onto some bitterness towards some people as I went through the lessons.
That being said, I need to bring up a couple things a less positive.
First, the editor really needs to proof read the book. There were a tons of mistakes and at times, it made it hard to understand what the author was trying to say. Secondly, although I do understand the intend of the author, I do not agree what he mentioned about victims of repetitive abuse, including rape, incest, child abuse etc... I do see how forgiveness is part of the process of healing, but I disagree that the vivid memories, reliving the trauma are signs of an unforgiving spirit, the development of a “victim syndrome” (???). The author doesn’t take into account the way our brains and trauma work. I did find this part of the book lacking of understanding and grace. Otherwise, the rest of the book was challenging in a good way and really turns us towards God. I also appreciate the exercise of digging into the Bible as I read through the lessons.
