Dr. Brady Carson spends all of his time at Wintervale's veterinary clinic. While caring for the pets of his friends and neighbors and training service dogs in his downtime, he's never really had time for romance. It doesn't help that he's been in the small Vermont town all of his life and knows everyone way too well. Despite his sister's insistence, Brady can't bring himself to date any of the girls he grew up with. Besides, he's perfectly happy to hang out with his friends, both human and canine, and focus on his work.
She couldn't figure out a way to start over
After being granted an honorable discharge when she lost her leg in an accident she refuses to talk about, Army Ranger Theo Matheson has been trying to pick up the pieces of her life. Returning home to Maine shouldn't have been this hard, but she's been struggling with all of the changes to her life, finding it hard to live with the past, and even harder to see a future for herself that doesn't involve the Army. The one thing she's looking forward to is meeting her new service dog, a pup that has been trained just for her in Wintervale, Vermont.
Can two people who turned their backs on love find a way to face it together? In the warmth of a Wintervale summer, anything is possible...
A Star-Spangled Romance is Book 5 in the Wintervale Promises series. It is a standalone novel with no cliffhangers and a guaranteed happily ever after. Join the Wintervale family for an unforgettable 4th of July, where the annual downtown fireworks display won't be the only sparks flying!
Melodie March is a dreamer and a lover of nature who grew up in New England and adores the tiny town she was born in. When she isn't writing, she is drinking tea on her porch or volunteering at her local animal shelter. She could never pick a favorite holiday, but every winter, she's the first to start decorating her old farmhouse. She lives in Vermont on her very own Pine Street with her husband and rescue yellow labs, Honey and Lemon!
First, I want to thank Melodie March for providing me with this book so I may bring you this review.
Melodie March is back with a very sweet read that will pull on your heart strings in A Star Studded Romance. Instantly, this cover will grab your attention and put a smile on your face-as it did mine. However, I am a fan of Melodie’s from the Christmas books she has written in the past. So, I had a hunch I would like this book too. Boy, was I right.
I love when authors such as Melodie think outside box and show how creative they can get with their character names, storyline plots, or even career choices they have. The book is more enjoyable to read something that is so different and unique from everyone else has written.
An example of this was I loved the names in the book. Now I am partial to the name Brady as it is my nephews name. So, I had to smile when it was the name of her main character. Other names in the book was Portia, Kit, Eliot, Channing, Pippa, Annabelle, Theo (for a girl name not a boy’s name), Liza, etc.
A Star Studded Romance focused on topic most books don’t cover-service dogs for the disabled. These dogs can be incredibly useful for those in need of assistance physically or even emotionally. In this case it was for a disabled vet Theo. Her story about the accident will pull on your heart strings as you can feel all that she went through. It was an incredibly intense and powerful scene. My heart went out to Theo as she was retelling all of this to Brady.
Theo loses a leg during her Army deployment in the Middle East, and comes back home to her mother's in Maine. Brady is the vet in his small Vermont town, and trains service dogs in his spare time, but doesn't have time for love. He's been working with Portia, and when Theo comes to pick her up, Brady's surprised that Theo is a she and not a he. It was a pleasure to watch their friendship and trust grow and develop into something more. I really enjoyed this book - the characters are so suited to each other, a new and different twist on the small-town romance. This is my first read from this author, but not the last.

Brady and Theo have both been away from romance for a long time. Brady because he knows everyone in Wintervale so there’s no one left he wants to date and he’s also focused on his veterinary clinic; Theo because she focused on sports and a military career before she lost her leg in an IED. She’s visiting Wintervale to get a service dog to help her cope with PTSD that Brady has trained, but his friends and family are hoping she finds a reason to stay. There were plenty of funny, sweet, and some scary moments in this romance. I loved service dog Portia and three legged dog Abby. It was great to catch up with the characters from the previous books in this series.
Great story. Theo is brave and a strong character despite her injury and how she was injured. Brady is a great catch, a little timid and has a big heart. I enjoyed reading the development & progression of their friendship. I think the characters blend well, uplift one another, their story is heartwarming and also has its humorous moments. I received a copy at no cost and without obligation from the author.

This was a quick read and very enjoyable. I loved Theo and felt for her loss as well as her strength to try to get back to normal. Brady was a wonderful man, loyal to family, loved his job, and generous with his time and heart. The connection between these two was enhanced by the presence of Portia. This story had me laughing, crying, cheering, and swooning. I highly recommend this story.
I received a copy of this story through Candid Book Reviews, and this is my unsolicited review.
I enjoyed this story about service dogs, the people who need them and the people who train them. In this story Theodora needs a companion dog to help her deal with her emotional problems after being injured. Brady, the dog trainer, feels an instant attraction to Theodora. Their, getting to know each other, is sweet, funny and very romantic.

A sweet funny romance. That for once the really sweet guy will eventually win the girl. Theo is a woman in need of a service dog. When she gets word that she's to receive one trained via a Mr. Brandy. She can't wait and starts to head up to get her. Only when she sees the man behind the training does her heart skip a beat. But what would of man like that do with lil ole boring and wounded her.
This was a cute and sweet sappy romance read. I enjoyed the characters and the story line. I also liked the fact that there were animals involved and brought the two main characters together. I liked this book and enjoy this author. I think others would enjoy it too.
This was a good story with many twists and turns that keeps you reading. The characters were interesting and fun. The story could have been longer. I wasn't ready for it to end.
I loved a star spangled romance, i loved the writing and theo and learning about her. I loved getting to know brady and the way Melodie managed to incorporate the animals. I would have loved to see more of the animals and found the romance was a bit understated, however in saying this i will definitely be going back and reading through the entire series and watching out for future books hoping to catch glimpses of Theo, Brady and Portia!!
