Well, when I said 'read,' I mean that I have consulted the book like an encyclopedia for topics of interest. It's a BIG book. I will say that there's information in the book that isn't found on their website. I found that interesting. I don't know if this is a common practice... might they go into more depth in the book than on the website? Not sure if this is similar across the board for the bulk of the topics.

I think this is a magnificent work. MUCH work has gone into it - in particular, the bridging together of the common medical perception of any given health topic and related solutions with alternative modalities/solutions. It gives one the perspective sorely needed when fleshing out what to do with any given ailment.

The book covers literally all topics needed (as far as I've noticed). It is a mainstay for ensuring that my family and I are as healthy as possible. And 'life extension?' When quality of life is improved and stamina increases... the chances of living longer is practically guaranteed. If supplements are suggested in the book, the foundation has formulated high-quality supplements to take. They've covered many of the bases. Which, btw, that reminds me - a number of years ago they had a line you could call to speak with a nurse familiar with medical options as well as alternative therapies. One had to be a member (which wasn't too expensive). I am unsure if they do this today.

All in all, this book is a must-have for the longevity minded among us.

I received a free copy of this book from Story Cartel, in exchange for an honest review.

“Disease Prevention and Treatment: 130 Evidence-Based Protocols to Combat the Diseases of Aging” is a very comprehensive and scholarly record of information pertinent to anybody and everybody who ever has had, or ever will have, any of 130 commonly encountered disorders associated with the aging process. Produced by the Life Extension Foundation, this 5th Edition has been edited by Blake Gossard.

The Life Extension Foundation has been actively involved, since 1980, in efforts to streamline the FDA drug approval process. In that time the Foundation has invested millions of dollars to review thousands of studies which identify many, many vitamins and supplements capable of ameliorating the effects of aging. Of the 130 age-related conditions discussed herein, essentially every one of them is actually a symptom of vitamin and/or supplement deficiencies.

The purpose of this tome is to provide the general public access to this information, so individuals can take charge of their own healthcare needs by anticipating various age-related conditions, and subsequently take preventive measures to ensure their bodies do not become deficient in the critical chemicals responsible for those conditions. Topics covered run the gamut from the common cold to various cancers, all of which you can alleviate to varying degrees simply by making certain your body has what it needs to stave off those disorders.

Out of 130 conditions treated in this tome, I identified over 30 which I personally either already have, or may develop as I age. I must admit I was extremely impressed with what I read about those conditions. My initial reaction was surprise that of the numerous vitamins and supplements known to abate those 30+ conditions, I have already been taking many on a daily basis. Indeed, I have recently experienced a measurable improvement in my kidneys’ periodic lab results, which can only be explained as being a direct consequence of taking various supplements and/or vitamins, as I have done for many years. This book validated my own findings from research I had reviewed, supporting the benefits of taking specific vitamins and supplements.

“Disease Prevention and Treatment” is an invaluable treasure trove of essential information which can quite literally extend your life. The thousands of studies from which this information has been gleaned are cited extensively throughout the book. The 1408 pages overflow with down-to-earth, proven and documented information to help you enhance and extend your life. What’s not to like? I recommend this book as being perhaps the single most significant thing you can purchase to improve your health.
