About the author
C.M. Bethell
3 books97 followersI have always loved traveling, experiencing new places, people and things which is research for my books. Originally, I’m from Michigan but raised in Florida, an area I never felt connected to except by family. I’m drawn to the power and energy of water – oceans, waterfalls, and rapids… My first attempt at writing, something I never had an interest in, started while doing a favor for a friend and staying with a sharp, intelligent, 94-year-old gentleman as cook and driver. The story was a fantasy with fairies, myths, and legends that was spectacular. NOT!! With no background or training, I sent it to three publishing houses, ha! You can guess how that turned out.
But many miles, states, cities, and countries later, not to mention writing classes, seminars and conferences, I published The Guardian Series. A contemporary Celtic Anam Cara romantic paranormal suspense with shapeshifters, parallel worlds, etc. Book three is in the works. There is a freebie short story about Jace.
My new series, set in Colorado ranch country, are contemporary romantic suspense - the return of three brothers to the Rockin’ R Ranch. My next project will be about a python hunter in the depths of the Florida Everglades! No not yet, I need to finish The Guardian series first…
Currently I’m house and dog sitting in beautiful Washington state, then on to southern California, and back to Florida for more of the same. I never know where the next whim will send me. Hope you’ll stop by again - subscribe for updates, sign up for newsletters and pictures, follow my trips and enjoy my stories… until next time.

My Rating: 3.5 Stars!
Good and evil both exist in parallel worlds as one Celtic Guardian of Odon crosses the boundaries of his world and Earth to discover his fated mate at a time when another breach of the portal between the worlds could destroy all he is worn to protect.
Devon has his own ghosts in his past to deal with and he cannot fail in his mission now, but the strong willed Keira is someone he never dreamed he would find. Does this mean the legends are true, is it possible to find the one soul who completes your own?
As the leader of a small band of survivors of a portal breach, Keira tries to make a new life on Earth. Now this Guardian appears and she must decide if he is friend or foe, can he be trusted and can they work together to uncover the real enemy of their people?
THE BREACH: BOOK ONE DEVON by C.M. Bethell has a fabulous premise, two worlds, perilous dangers and the passions of a love/hate/love relationship between two souls caught up in a maelstrom of emotions when they should be fighting to help their worlds survive.
Flawed characters, family bonds, it’s all here, but for me, it was a rollercoaster of five star reading at the highs and not five star reading in the lows. There were times I wanted to say, “Move along,” and times I wanted more. A bit dragged out, but still a good read.
This does promise to be an interesting series, so I would say to give it a try, for sure!
I received a complimentary Review copy from C.M. Bethell!

What an intense first in series!
"There is a destiny that makes us brothers. None goes his way alone, all we send into the lives of others comes back into our own. We will guard and protect each other, our people and the mortals, until our last breath."
This was the oath that Devon took centuries ago when he walked through the portal. He failed.
A breach between the two worlds has left a village all but annihilated and its inhabitants brutally slaughtered.
It has also left Devon questioning his abilities to lead the guardians.
Devon's character was, for me, easy to get attached to. His personality is laid back with a touch of humor. He is a protector, a leader, a son and a friend. He enjoys living on the edge, seeking out problems and solving them. His fellow guardians are his family as much as his blooded family.
The universe that Bethell created was such a fascinating mix of sci-fi and paranormal. The characters are animated and truly bring something unique by way of their individual personalities to the story line. The world building was detailed and graphic, easy to picture as I read.
It did take me a while to get down the who's who with regards to the cast and events. But once I did I was lost in the adventure.
Devon, Gabriel, Stefan, Ayden, and Catronia make up one group of guardians. And Robert, let us not forget the young go-getter.
Leigh .. i just wanted to stuff her head with cotton - not sure if that would stop the mindlink but one could hope.
Keira had me wanting to knock some sense into her at times. The girl is highly intelligent and truly has the strength required to lead. But as someone who has lived through a tragedy, she is wary of who to trust and takes her role as protector seriously.
The energy between her and Devon was a maelstrom of give and take. It was fun to watch as they tried to make heads or tails of the current between them.
There are so many directions this series can go I am truly excited to see what happens next.
If you are looking for a fast-paced read with lots of action and suspense. Really bad bad guys and gal (fine she was just a pain) and a touching romance - Look no further!
A must add to those who enjoy a detailed and entertaining para/sci-fi adventure.

The Breach by CM Bethell Is a genre-crossing novel with elements of fantasy, science fiction, and romantic suspense. With a strong story line, this fast-paced tale will leave you breathless as the plot takes you on an adventure you never would have imagined.
Keira is young, scared, and too proud to accept help from anyone, especially a man. She believes she can lead her clan without aid, but I believe a strong leader is never too good as to not need a little help every once in awhile. It’s clear Devon is more mature than Keira and he must have patience with her if he is to acquire her as his mate.
Bethell’s world building is intriguing as we discover a parallel world with guardian shape shifters, psychic mind-melding, steamy bedroom scenes, an extraordinarily strong love of friends, family, & clan, and a glimpse inside the mind of a madman (or three). Fasten your seat belts, one-click this fantastic first installment, and get ready for the ride of your lives, fellow bibliophiles!
