The Splitting Image: Exposing the Secret World of Doubles, Decoys, and Impostor-Replacements

Rate this book
Psychological operations involving doubles are explored in this book. Politicians, heads of state, and other public figures routinely use doubles for a variety of clandestine purposes. Some are for security, while others serve more nefarious objectives. Political agendas can be promoted through the use of controlled doubles, for instance. Psy-ops using doubles are facilitated by means of technology, but technology can also be used to expose an impostor. Examples of historical doubles are discussed to illustrate certain tactical uses of lookalikes.

This was a really fascinating read! This book made having a double seem like something all presidents do and like it's the most normal thing in the world. It discussed the doubles of Stalin, Sadam Hussein, Hitler, Lee Harvey Oswald and other political figures. It talks about the whys and hows of using doubles and the ways people usually know who their real President is and when it's a double. It was really fascinating and very well researched. It was full of footnotes and citations, but the layout at least in kindle was not very good and sometimes seemed mismatched, a sentence would start and end up somewhere unrelated sometimes when going from one page to another with footnotes in between. It doesn't discuss Paul McCartney at all, but he's discussed in other books. I thought this was a great book, recommended if you're curious about the subject.

Essential if you don’t know anything about Doppelgängers

This is a short book. A fully referenced read, however, and I believe it’s factual. Not so much was mentioned about McCartney as I expected. A lot of information about Saddam Hussein. More information about McCartney can be found on Tina’s blog.
