Rate this book
Sawyer has only just started to get used to being a shifter and part of a pack when a revelation about his place in that pack leaves him shaken and angry. Sawyer is an omega. In the service of his role, he’s expected to bond with a mate and raise children to rebuild the pack’s waning numbers. No one is surprised by Sawyer’s vehement refusal. But fate seems determined to ensure he’s mated. Alphas from other packs appear, all with their own ulterior motives for ensuring Sawyer is mated to them, despite his adamant refusal to bond with anyone, and a sinister fact of shifter biology makes it more difficult for Sawyer to resist their advances with every passing day. Meanwhile, Duncan, Alpha of the pack, has fallen into drunken despondency over the death of his mate and the pack is in chaos, while a darkness they thought already dealt with gathers itself to break free, and Sawyer may be the only one capable of stopping it, for reasons even he doesn’t fully understand. Please Note: This book contains adult language & steamy adult activities, it is intended for 18+ Adults Only. This is the second book in the Last Omega series and is not a standalone. I’ll be honest, I had mixed feelings after reading book 1 yet my curiosity got the better of me which is why I decided to read book 2. Did my gamble pay off? Absolutely!

The moon blesses Sawyer with something he doesn’t want yet ignoring it doesn’t change the facts. He needs to mate and suitors are drawn to him. Can he get through the hurdles that stand in his way?

I sympathised with Sawyer; between the Moon’s blessing and Duncan’s possessiveness, the distance between Sawyer and Elliot grows. Having all the suitors in the world doesn’t change what his heart truly wants and needs.

Duncan’s alpha instincts were all over the place and the more he pushed Sawyer, the less I thought of him.

This story was intense, sad, gripping and sometimes a little confusing. Sawyer’s defiance at choosing a mate pretty much dominated the whole story and it dragged on longer than it should have. Sawyer and Elliot had a great connection in book 1 yet in this book it felt dull and pretty much non existent. There were a few unexpected surprises along the way which made things much more exciting. I got confused with the wild hunt in general - this aspect of the story felt rushed and parts went over my head.

Overall, this was a good read and I’m glad I took the time to read it. I look forward to reading book 3.

While the first book dealt a lot with Sawyer and Elliot, this book dealt more with the Wild Hunt and the Erlking. Sure, Sawyer and Elliot played a major role, but there was so much more in this book. It was an end of the world catastrophe waiting to happen.

I have to admit that I've heard of the Seelie and Unseelie. I can also remember the mention of the Erlking and the Wild Hunt. I am not very familiar with them though. This book made me want to look up the mythology behind everything.

Overall, my favorite part of this book was anything to do with the Wild Hunt and the action happening because the Erlking was breaking free. It was so unique that I had a blast reading it. I kind of got tired of Sawyer and Elliot at times. They need to work on their relationship. I can say I will be reading the next book in this series and will probably read everything again in the future.

I enjoyed the first one but I'm really loving this now! There is so much world building and fairytalelike fantasy elements that got me thoroughly enchanted.
And there are so many great characters, all developing and drawing you in - I'm feeling invested in each and every one of them now.
Also the story keeps picking up common motifs and plot elements and then turning them in a new direction. I'm not saying you'll never see the twists coming, but I kept being pleasently surprised again and again.
Off to the next one! Fair warning there: The books continue straight on and tend towards endings that are also new beginnings.
