Blameless

Rate this book
It should never happen to any girl, but it happened to Gloria. Great with child, she had been forced off the wagon train by a sanctimonious preacher and left on an empty stretch of the Oregon Trail, with no one to whom she could turn, and no place to go... …until Gabe had stepped in and taken over, asking nothing in return. He had everything, and she'd fallen in love with him, so why had she refused his offer of marriage? He loved her, but a man will only take so many refusals. Will her feelings of guilt keep them apart? Get Blameless now.

Simple sweet story

I read the authors bio and and she is 86 years old and was born on the same day as my Mother. And I think writing a book at any age is hard but doing it at 86 makes her extra special. The book is simple, short and sweet. I love the family dynamics and his Gabe the hero fell in love with Glory and her baby. I believe I will check out more of this young lady's stories. I didn't realize this was book nine so I will have to go back and read the others. I didn't feel like I missed anything either.

This was a very good read. A lot different from other Oregon trail romance books I have read. Gloria had to face one problem after another yet she continued to be strong and overcome it. I have not read the books in this series prior to this one but I will be purchasing them now. Especially if they are as good as this one.

Sweet romance

A very sweet romance. I liked Gloria and Gabe's interactions. The awkwardnes, the misunderstandings didn't stop Gabe. He kept reaching for the life he wanted for them both.

Pinckneys of Charleston

Blameless is book nine of this series by Susan Leigh Carlton. This is the first I've read of this series and I'll be looking for the rest. A great book I loved the characters and the storyline.

Not so good

The story concept is good, but derivative. The writing was ok but elementary. The characters were contrived and not very interesting.

Good read!!!!

I truly enjoyed this book and I think this author will end up being one of my favorites. A little mystery, drama and a lot of lovely people made it very enjoyable.

While the story-line itself was good, it took a bit to get into the writing style. My love of this genre’ kept me reading. It’s the story of hardship, trials of travel in a wagon train, and, results of life once reaching the west. After the attack by a “respected” son of a small community, Gloria couldn’t face people or life itself as she became great with child. Gabe Pinckney was her salvation as he and his large family vowed to keep her safe and give her a future filled with love and happiness.
