My victory over Kingsman Online's annual Dystopia regionals have come at a cost. Leon's been trapped in the game, and it seems like there's nothing I can do to help him.
With an ailing mother and little brother waiting for me, I return home and count down the days for Rudolph Kingsman and his band of scientists to try and get Leon out.
The only thing is: I know there's something wrong. Given Kingsman Online's nefarious actions, there seems to be any number of things they can do to drastically alter my life.
Then I get the call.
The only way to save Leon is to return to the very game that nearly killed me and has potentially cost my friend his life.
Kody Boye has always been drawn to escape into other worlds. Now primarily a young adult fiction author, he made his debut in the Yellow Mama webzine at the age of fourteen with the publication of "[A] Prom Queen's Revenge," and sold his debut novel, Sunrise, to Library of the Living Dead Press at eighteen.
Since then, he has authored several young adult novels across multiple speculative fiction genres. His works include The Beautiful Ones, The Red Wolf Saga, and the When They Came trilogy.
When not writing, Kody enjoys reading YA novels, playing video games, and relaxing with his three cats. He currently lives and writes in Southeastern Idaho.
But the characters still aren’t moving me. I did like Louisa, but she was barely there for a hi and bye.
I’m anxious to read book 3 and find out how the author gets all of the story threads wrapped up. As of this book, I’m still unclear on why, since the thought was to use this vr game as something for colonists to do with their brains on the way to other places, a dystopian world was the best idea ever. Barring that, which I don’t think will be answered, still a lot to do in the next book.
After reading the first Kings man Online book I was hooked. I immediately grabbed TBE second, and will be grabbing the third. This series has kept me craving each chapter and needing to know more. I feel like I know Sophia and Leon, like childhood friends. My heart breaks for the circumstances they end up in. This novel was certainly a winner and I can't wait to read what happens next for the group.
