Fowl Play: Challenge is the first book of Fowl Play, a litRPG trilogy.
"Yang, seasoned gamer and streamer, receives a challenge from another famous streamer: He needs to prove that he is "Unbeatable" by playing a game he never played before. The game is Fowl, a fairly recent sandbox VR MMORPG with an innovative class system.
Will accepting this new challenge break the repetitive cycle that has become Yang's life? Hoping so, he accepts it, and it leads him to new friends, adventures and wonder.
Not all is fun, though. There is someone out there who doesn't want Yang to succeed."
This book is a whole lot of fun. Now, I need to say that this wonderful RPG story isn't absolutely perfect, but when it hits something right it blows me away so even while factoring the little issues I had, it deserves five stars!
4.5 Excellent fun read action filled with a quick pace, the ending felt a bit rushed and it could use more professional editing. Looking forward to the next installment, thank you for this book Jack.
The characters have depth and personality. The story isn't rushed and unfolds at a good pace. The author does some decent foreshadowing and answers questions about the main character by showing us and not telling us. Mr. Latetide definitely has the "it" for story telling and I look forward to reading future writings "SOON."
Absolutely loved this one. a none OP MC. No harems No sex. Great class and levelling system. Never mind read the books i'd play the game if it was made as well
Good debut novel here. The game system is interesting and the out of game descriptions are great. The MC earns his money with streaming and as a challenge starts a in an MMORPG with a character designed by his friendly challenger and has fun. I really like the real life part most, then the part in a group and then the solo parts. The dialogues are good while the description of actions sometimes need a bit more tension. There could be a quite bit more dramatic in it. But as a debut novel - and regarding the fact that this parts at the end of the book are already improving - i see a lot of good stuff coming in the future.
Very much enjoyed the emphasis on crafting in this, with strong foundations for this to continue if there is a second or more. It has a nice pace to it and the characters rounded out the story very well. More please!
