A long way down by Jason Reynolds is about William realizing the rules should not be passed on. William and his older brother Shawn live with their mother in the hood. Their father was shot and so was Shawn. Shawn taught William the rules the first one is no crying the second is no snitching and the third is always get revenge.
This book makes me think of how hard it is to change how people think because of how long it took to make Willam release how wrong the rules are. It also took him a while to realize that he could be wrong about who killed Shawn.
I liked how the author made it easy to understand that the rules are horrible and are responsible for people dying. It's inevitable that people will keep dying because someone will always want revenge. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes to read.
