Sanitarium Magazine contains a great collection of horror poetry and short stories. Each of the nineteen entries played on my emotions.
My favorite poems are “The Doomsday Artist” by Stephanie M. Wytovich, which finds beauty in decomposition and “Martha Returns,” the tale of an unwelcome reunion, by John Grey. The following short stories resonated most with me. “Mr. Sandman Scratches the Moon” by Joanna Koch explores a woman’s need to create order for the object of her obsession. In Paul Jessup’s “Pale Paper Masks,” the diseased attempt to thwart society’s plan to eradicate them. “The Voice in Your Guts” by Mario E. Martinez shows the destructiveness of inner demons.
Issue two, jam packed with creepy goodness, provides a great goosebump-inducing read.
