Sometimes the newer things are not always the best. After reading my eight year old niece's two new books of bible stories (one apparently too young for her which skipped over the stories, and a reference book too old for her, which did not provide a story format) aloud to her, I found myself having to look up things in Wikipedia on my laptop for help provide crucial detail or explain things mid-story, such as the 10 Plagues of Egypt or Joseph's explanation of Pharaoh's dream. This led me to remember my first and only Bible story book, which was aimed for kids her age, yet did not turn the stories into little feel-good homilies or dumb them down, which seems to be rare nowadays. I was so glad to find it on Amazon with the original illustrations. My only complaint is that it does not include those famous stories secondary to the historic timeline of the Jewish people (eg Noah's Ark, Jonah and the Whale, etc). However, with pithy, plain storytelling and age appropriate vocabulary, what's inside is plenty enough for school-age children to read, read again, muse, and discuss in Sunday School for years to come.
Good compilation of short stories of Bible (around 46) from old and new testament. A good read for children of the age 8 to 10. Sketches, simple language, large print and short stories makes it quite interesting reading material. It also provides good introduction to the people of Israel, Moses, Jesus to name few.
