Rainleigh Mansion has a history filled with tragedy, but it’s a story that many in the town of Oakmount have forgotten. Once the center of a bustling steel and coal industry, Oakmount is now a sleepy college town and those that remember the past are almost all gone.
Reese McArthy has felt different all his life, as if he didn’t quite belong in a big city under the hot California sun. But when his long-shot application to attend Oakmount’s exclusive college is accepted, all he can do is hope that he’s finally found a place to truly belong. Maybe Oakmount will be different, just like him.
In the search for some companionship, Reese joins a campus club with members that are just like him — different, and when an surprising attraction leads to something more, Reese is content to just let it all happen. What he doesn’t know, is that Oakmount is full of secrets, and a simple club activity could change his life forever.
The Phantom Pregnancy is a 45,000 word standalone gothic m/m mpreg romance featuring historical themes, unwanted flashbacks, and male pregnancy. This omegaverse romance also contains a guaranteed Happily Ever After as a shy alpha meets an omega worth risking everything to keep.
Not going to lie.... I read “Gothic” and “Omegaverse” in the same sentence and I jumped balls deep.... didn’t even read the blurb... Then again I had been skimming Amazon and others sites for something to read off and on all day.
All on all I really enjoyed the book. Its kind of one of my favorite tropes and unfortunately it’s a trope that not many people write or attempt. I would tell you what the trope is but it would totally ruin the plot.
Some of the writing threw me for a loop at times. Sometimes within the span of a sentence it would all of a sudden be a week later. I also thought there were some plot holes, especially with Aubrey... like I’m pretty sure he was supposed to play a bigger part in the story but was slowly forgotten. And I wish more effort was put into the ending but I fully understand that’s probably the hardest part of these kinds of books.
Anyways I did enjoy it for the most part. I’ve eyed some of this authors other work before but always passed on it, after this I might look into it again.
It's very hard for me to rate this book. It is well written and the characters are fairly well developed. The storyline is pretty obvious from the first few chapters, but the ending takes a very open mind.
Rhys is an omega who loves his overbearing mother, but is ready to escape from the pressure to settle down with a dentist and start producing grandbabies. He chooses a school as far from home as possible, and is ready to start his new life. He gets roped into joining a ghost hunting club, but he is looking forward to exploring the old Rainleigh mansion.
* Slight spoilers ahead *
On the group's first excursion to the house, he meets Gale, and it is Insta-attraction on both sides. But, he leaves unexpectedly without getting any of Gale's information. Fortunately, he runs into him again, and things heat up quickly. However, Gale disappears again, and Rhys is left feeling conflicted.
This goes on for a few months, until Gale finally falls off the map, and Rhys discovers that he has gotten more than he bargained for. Eventually, he resigns himself to the fact that he is not going to see Gale again...that is, until he makes an unbelievable discovery. He goes to the only person who knows more about the history of the house and family, the leader of the paranormal group for help, but he is put off.
Eventually, Rhys takes matters into his own hands, and goes after the Alpha he has known as Gale. He gets an unexpected reception, but all becomes clear after a dangerous confrontation.
Eventually, Rhys and Gale get their HEA, even if it is very unconventional. I'm not sure how it will work in the future for the young, but I guess they will figure it out in time.
Happy reading!

MMy Thoughts and Review:
I applaud the imagination of CJ Vincent, and enjoy the few hours of escape their books always gift me.
The Phantom Pregnancy, was easy to read. I enjoyed the way Gale's Alpha character was presented to Rhys. I did find myself confused with the character, Aubrey, and would have liked to have seen his character with more page time. He started out as a fantastic antagonist and then just vanished. I would blame alien 👽abduction, but that never happens on the East Coast.
I loved the mysterious back story of the haunted house, along with the excitement of the paranormal society. That's totally an East Coast thing! 😂 I liked the housemates and Rhys' mom. Their characters were eccentric, and got on Rhys' nerves in all the right ways. I was confused by the doc his I and would have liked those explained.
Even though there were a couple of plot holes and devices that could use some TLC, I enjoyed this quite a bit.💖
This is definitely not a typical Mpreg. So, if you are on the hunt for something a bit different, give this one a try. It was a bit offbeat, mysterious, included murder, tender romance, with a guaranteed HEA.

I enjoyed this Gothic romance, 3.5 stars rounded up. Especially happy because you don't see the this genre often and I love it. This story started out very strongly with omega Rhys traveling across the country to attend college to escape his beloved but overbearing alpha mother. He quickly gets settled in a big old house With a couple of roommates who are interesting but not much character development there. He quickly meets alpha Aubrey, Who invites him to a PNR society meeting at college which intrigues him because their focus is a crumbling old mansion that fascinates Rhys. Plans for ghost hunting ensue. Rhys meets Gale at the first Rainleigh mansion excursion ( And Aubrey story line somewhat fades away. Rhys and Gale Quickly become involved, but it's a Mystery relationship with Gale constantly disappearing. Over the course of weeks Gale disappears completely and Rhys discovers he's pregnant. A mystery slowly reveals itself and Rhys Researches and tracks down his growing suspicion that he fell in love with a ghost. Towards the end of the book the story sort of fell apart for me felt rushed and fragmented. Gale/Aitken's disappearance and subsequent behavior felt off. Again the ending felt rushed and incomplete with gaps in the HEA. But those are small things, in the long run I really liked this story, and the premise felt fresh. Who doesn't love a ghost baby??

This story had my attention the entire time. Though I do have a few unanswered questions. Like, what happened to Aubrey after the party incident? My biggest question would give away too much of the story, but I think its a huge question people should be asking. Alas, I will not ask it because people don't like spoilers.
Rhys and “Gale” are interesting characters. Especially Gale. I had my suspicions on what was really happening with Gale and I was right, but it didn’t change how much I liked the story. Nick on the other hand I had no idea what he was about and so that was a nice surprise.
I wasn’t a huge fan of Caleb and Myles. I found them to be a little pushy and disrespectful, especially since they all had to live together.
3.5 stars. This is quite an interesting, entertaining and facinating story. Rhys moves away for college and want to get away from his mother mothering him. He moves into a house with two other omegas Myles and Caleb. Ryhs is fasinated with the Rainleigh Manor and joins the Oakmount Paranormal Society club. Ryhs joins the club for a paranormal investigation at the Manor, here he meet Gale. Ryhs and Gale get romanticly involved, then suddendly Gale isn't anwsering Rhyes calls or text anymore and Rhys discovers that he's pregnant. Rhyes is hurt that Gale is avoiding him and wont contact him. To get his mind of things Rhys goes trough the old photos from Rainleigh Manor, he discovers that the picture of Aitken Kildare look just like Gale. Rhyse starts to realise that his lover is a ghost and I don't want spoil the rest of the story.

This paranormal Gothic romance was a tale I wasn’t sure about reading, but I enjoyed this authors other works, so thought I would try it, I was pleasantly surprised.
This book was intriguing and mysterious right from the start, From the moment Rhys landed in Oakmount he felt at home, when Rhys met Aubrey, who disappears part way through the book, he gets introduced to Nick who turns out to be a pivotal character and then there’s Gale, who’s everything Rhys wants.
I will say this though the characters are good, not all of them nice and storyline was a bit obvious but very well executed, except for the end I felt that it was rushed and squashed up, trying to get the book finished and all the relevant information out. So was a bit disappointed. I would however re-read it so it gets 4*.
The Phantom Pregnancy by CJ Vincentis a non-shifter mpreg romance with a gothic/historical feel. The story grabs you and keeps you reading with mysterious occurrences, interesting characters and great writing.
Rhys and Gale steam up the pages. I loved their interactions, whether just getting to know each other or letting desires play out. There are some twist and turns here... I was surprised and delighted by the tale. I definitely found the story to be a unique one and can definitely see myself rereading it sometime in the future

I received this book as an ARC and this is my honest opinion. I knew the work of this author with his New Olympians series, so I was expecting something along those lines, but I wasn’t prepared for how brilliant is this book. The story is a conjunction of scary ghost story, a MPreg omegaverse love story and a mystery and suspense story with a great HEA. It has all these interesting paranormal aspects with love, hot scenes and a baby. Really captivating book! I couldn’t stop reading it and finished it in one sitting. Loved it!
This book was fantastic. When I downloaded it I wasn't sure if it was going to be one that held my attention. Boy, was I mistaken. It was terrific. It was gripping, it was emotional and it was, at times, intense. Rhys and Aitken, literally from different times, yet still perfect for one another. Loved the supporting cast, as well. Nick, I have to admit, was a surprise. Very nicely done. The “paranormal” romance this story delivers is definitely one of a kind. A five star rating, absolutely!

I enjoyed this intriguing paranormal story, although I had expected Aubrey to play a bigger role. I pretty much figured out who the key players were early on, but the story was still interesting and kept my interest as the details were fleshed out. Gale's severe reaction surprised me a little. How does one go from I love you to rage that fast? I thought everything happened really fast at the end, and I thought it could have been fleshed out more. Still, I loved the story, and I recommend it.

Rhys is a omega who loves his overprotective mother, but he wants to live his own life. Rhys picks a school that is far away from home because he wants to do it on his own without the help of his mother. Rhys joins a group that is exploring the Rainleigh Manor because it fascinates him. While Rhys is going through the Manor he meets Gale. After several encounters Gale disappears and Rhys is upset that he can not find Gale. Will Rhys find the truth about Gale? What will happen to Rhys and Gale?

Warning *spoilers* What a different kind of story. A baby with an omega father and an alpha father, who happens to be a ghost. How’s that for a new idea? It also happens to be a very well written story. Won’t give anything else away but if you like omegaverse books and want something a little different then read this book.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this great, fascinating, intriguing, interesting, engaging, and definitely different twist on the standard omegaverse mpreg story. Filled with mystery, suspense, more twists and turns than a roller, puzzles, unanswered questions, and where nothing and no one is what they appear to be, it had me hooked from beginning to end, and loving every minute.
I enjoyed the book very much. I loved the mystery behind Gale. My only issue and this seems to be with most of CJs books is how rushed the ending was. If it was fleshed out a bit more this book would have been better.
this is a omegaverse romance. This was a good read. The storyline was interesting and full of adventure and romance. The characters are fun and exciting. If you love a great m/m romance with adventure and a HEA then this story is for you. Grab your copy today.
Okay, wow. I actually didn’t see that. I know I should have, but for the first time in a long time a book managed to surprise me. I loved it. Definitely recommend. 👍🏼
I loved the fact that this story was an historical read with an omega mpreg in it. The story was a little mystery and got with some danger in the story. But it's a nice read for an older story.

Given another hundred pages for some space to actually develop plot and characters, this could have been something. As it was, it's insta-love, quirky bro roommates, a villain speech, and fluff. It's no more or less than I expected, though, so no real complaints.
This was a fun premise and had just a bit of mystery in addition to the romance. It fell apart for me a bit at the end, but was still overall enjoyable.
interesting story... good characters and storyline.. it was different and not completely my genre but it was fun to read. i enjoyed it and am glad i decided to read this one.
