Learn the truth. Break the curse. Kill the demon. Just an everyday to-do list. Oh, and play welcome wagon to the necromancer who just moved in down the road. It's been over one hundred years since my Granny made a deal with a demon that sent a pair of souls to Hell. Unfortunately for the demon, he didn't check the receipts and ended up escorting the wrong souls to eternal damnation. So imagine my surprise when he realizes his mistake, and shows up on my front lawn demanding his ancient contract be fulfilled. Doesn't seem to matter that Granny's wheelin' and dealin' days are gone. This demon wants payment and he wants it now - any descendant will do. So it's up to Learn the truth. Break the curse. Kill the demon.
I met Lisa a few times at comic con and have always bought books from her! I bought Hell Born this year after reading a bit about the book and hearing from Lisa about it! I have never been disappointed with Lisa’s book but this book I began reading it and it just drew me in to the point I could not put it down! Working a job as a first responder I try to find things as an escape when I am off and this book was the best escape I have found in quite a while! I would recommend this book to everyone but be aware once you start it you cannot put it down! -cop, mother, and avid fan!
If I don’t like the characters, the conversation and the plot is not engaging by the 30% mark then it’s time to stop and find another book. Creating a primary female adult character who is interesting and snarky is a tricky thing to write well. She can either sound like a smart and witty woman or a tiresome 15 year old, unfortunately, Desdemona fits the irritating teenager description without any depth and I lost interest.
I really love the family dynamic! The pacing was a bit odd with her forever trip to hell lasting just a few hours, but that’s a minor quibble. Can’t wait to continue the series (and I really hope Evil continues to be a feature!).
