Oh wow this is a fun book for kids and adults. The illustrations are colourful and quite frankly awesome.
I got this book because it was about a chihuahua (hope I spelled that right). His name is Ricky Jo and is really cute. I challenge anyone to argue he isn't cute. It rhymes and you go on a journey with Ricky Jo exploring new places.
What can I say it's fun. Also has pictures so younger children can follow the story through the illustrations.
Though they can occasionally be elusive, dreams have the ability to create powerful imagery and experiences that stem from the depths of the reader’s imagination. One night, a furry puppy named Ricky Jo begins dreaming, and the dream beckons him to leave the safety of his familiar home to explore the exciting possibilities outside. So, Ricky Jo bids farewell to his trusty stuffies and sets off, soon finding himself everywhere, from navigating a deep ocean from the deck of a boat to standing high atop a jagged mountain peak. Despite the fact that each locale is more exhilarating than the last, however, Ricky Jo ultimately seeks out the respite of his bed so he can fully rest and prepare for a new day. This charming, rhyming picture book examines several of the possibilities one can find within the vast expanse of dreamspace. Once the primary storytelling takes off, it appears in a parallel structure from one page to the next, giving young readers a predictable pattern to help them navigate the narrative with more confidence. Though the lines are not identical in meter, the rhymes provide a singsong quality to the text, making the story enjoyable to be read aloud to young children. Playful font is used throughout the book, and it is well-balanced alongside full-page, cartoon-like illustrations. These images dominate each page and utilize a friendly, accessible color palette that features Ricky Jo in a variety of locales. No matter what an individual’s interests may be, young readers will be inspired to reflect on their own dreams after observing Ricky Jo’s experiences. This brief, enjoyable picture book is a delightful addition to family bedtime rotations.
I received a copy of this book from the author and I chose to leave this review.
Back in January I read another book by Tom Murdoch called, It’s OK to be a puppy and I loved it! So when I was offered the chance to read another one of his books, I instantly agreed. I didn’t need to think twice about it.Where Will You Go, Ricky Jo? by Tom Murdoch is a delightful story that can be enjoyed by by everyone. You don’t need to be a child to enjoy it this lovely book, though it does make for a perfect bedtime story that can be shared with the little ones. The illustrations by Marina Vaselinovic are also beautiful and captivating, and they also give depth to the story.
No matter how many times I’ve read it, I still enjoy it very much, and despite not being part of the target demographic for this book; I not only enjoyed it but I also found it comforting. I did share this book with my younger brother and he also enjoyed this book very much, so it not only has my seal of approval but it has his seal of approval as well. This just serves to show that Where Will You Go, Ricky Jo? can be enjoyed by people of all ages.

Illustrations are very pretty and will capture kid's attention immediately. Title of the book is apt and according to the story. Cover photo of the book looks perfect. This is an interesting bedtime story that will be adored by kids. I recited this story to my nephew and he really loved it. It is a short and quick read that kids will enjoy.
A very cute book about a little chihuahua, Ricky Jo, who feels the call of adventure. Exploring everywhere from the farm, to the sky, to the ocean, Ricky Jo roams far and wide. Kids will enjoy the lively illustrations and noting details on the page as they follow along.
The repetition in each section will make this a good practice read for newly independent readers. The soothing structure would also make it a good wind-down book, especially for taking turns reading with a caregiver.
Many thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review!
Ricky Jo is a little chihuahua who likes adventures, and he uses his imagination or his dreams (not sure about that) to do it. He goes to interesting places: he sails the oceans and climbs mountains, he rides a fire truck and flies a plane, he rides a horse and works on the farm. Which things would your children like to do and what places to visit? I wish I could hear their answers. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Beautiful illustrations, cute rhymes and that is so important when teaching kids to read. This book is very pretty and flows so nicely. It has been easy for my kid to learn to memorize many of the pages and hopefully he will start see the words and associating. Going to start looking at this authors other books.

A very young Ricky Jo has already figured it out. It’s the planning that’s the best phase of anything. And he thinks of all the places he might go before slipping into dreamland. Great book for a reluctant bed-goer.
