Whomever said it was all downhill after 40 were most definitely wrong. For Maggie Lynch, divorced at 42, life was just taking her in a different direction. The only thing missing was a little romance, but she was in no rush.
Bumping into Jeremy Dawson at the supermarket of all places, was a huge surprise... and it changed everything. He'd been her first crush and her first heartbreak. Jeremy had asked her out in high school, but she'd been too shy and awkward to accept.
Now, 20-odd years later here he was again... and single. Luckily, so was Maggie. However, now she's older and wiser and no longer afraid to go after what she wants.
Jeremy is about to be blindsided by the older and more confident Maggie Lynch.
Maggie is heartbroken about being divorced in her forties. She spends her time with friends and when she runs into Jeremy, she knows she needs to act fast. He doesn’t see it coming but these two have fun and it proves that she can still love. Awesome wring as always by the fabulous author. I can’t wait for more.
I was really looking forward to reading this and it didn't disappoint..The fact that it centres on two characters in their 40s and not your typical perky 22 year olds really sold me. I love Maggie and Jerry as a couple her slightly naive but sassy attitude goes so well with his rough and ready foul mouth.. In typical JF Holland style it's not all hearts and rainbows there's heart ache, snark and let's not forget a quirky pet in the form of Ralphie the dog..A fantastic second chance romance that'll keep you turning pages.
Oh wow. Loved this story. Its hot and steamy. One of those books that keeps you from putting it down even for a few minutes. A Incredible read. I loved the characters and the story. I'd recommend this to anyone xx
When Maggie is blindsided by her husband she knows she has had enough. Then on her 42nd birthday she gets her divorce papers and meets the boy from high school that she never forgot. When Jeremy "Jerry" runs into the one woman that was his biggest regret, he knows that he must make it happen for them again but there are ex's, daughters, and randy dogs. I loved loved loved this book so much!!! Such a quick read because I couldn't do anything until I finished it. I can't wait for more of this series, such an amazing start. Highly recommended.

You know those kinds of books that you read slowly because you don’t want it to end but you think about it when you stop? This is one of those books. Maggie is 42 years old and is feeling a bit frumpy so she joins yoga class where she meets the rest of the After the Ink Dries Club and they are a hoot. When Maggie gets a divorce they support her the entire time but they don’t let her wallow long they sign her up for a singles night, where she meets Jerry a guy from school but her one regret. As the story unfolds you learn the history of Maggie and Jerry how they got to where they are but even if they start something up Maggie knows it’s temporary but Jerry isn’t so sure of that. The author says there is five books in the series each as a standalone but I can’t wait to read what she comes up with next.
Recently joined a reading group dedicated to lead female characters 30 years and older. Blindsided by JF Holland is the first book I elected to read from this group, and I picked a winner. One of the most interesting aspects of a romance book, is how the author introduces the soon-to-be couple. In this book, it's Maggie and Jerry. I truly like what the author did here, she took her time introducing or rather re-introducing the pair. The reader is first introduced to Maggie's new group of friends and all of their shenanigans. Loved this circle of friends. After establishing the friends, Holland allows the couple to meet and their story unfolds. I really liked this couple as well as the other supporting characters, Hayley, Ralphie and Gabe. This book had the perfect amount of romance, humor, angst and hot sex. And I'm anxiously awaiting book #2, It Takes Two.
Being the wrong side of 40 by a very long way, and being single, I could sympathise a lot with the characters in this book. And laugh at a lot more of it. The author has hit every scenario right on the head. Been there, done that, never got to write it down, but this author has and in such an engaging and thought provoking way that I couldn't put the book down. Loved every second of this second chance romance that leaves us all with a satified smile and a heart full of hope. Highly recommend!
Wowsers this is one awesome book JF Holland has outdone herself with this one. I loved the storyline because its so believable, that fact that nearly all the characters are around 40 yrs old and the humour was an added bonus. Well written and a book i would highly recommend. Looking forward now to book 2. I was given this ARC to read for an honest and unbiased review.
Really couldn't wait to read this book. I Loved it especially the cover I really enjoyed reading it when i was able and life didn't get in the way.... Really loved the fact the book was based on two older characters rather than younger ones. Jf has in my eyes excelled herself once again. The storyline and characters jf chose to wrote about were brilliant. These two things together have shown what a great author jf is...she has excelled herself once yet again....definately one id recommend to go read
I gotta say, I love JF Holland's books, they are full of her usual sass and humour, but Blindsided touched something else in me. I am (a long way) the wrong side of forty... and it is refreshing to come across a story, which tells it how it is. Most of us are not willowy-thin women with perfect hair and makeup, who can wear the latest fashions, or eat anything we like without worrying about how quickly it will appear on our hips. Most of us are like Maggie and her friends, with bad-hair days, muffin tops - trying to put one foot in front of the other and hope we don't topple over. This second-chance romance is everything I have come to expect from Ms Holland - and so real, I am pretty sure I am lifelong friends with all the characters! Blindsided, is hilarious, poignant, tender, cautious, gritty, determined, and courageous, all bound up with just the right amount of steam. A superb story... highly recommended!
This was a really good read. It was sexy, sweet, funny, and also had its heartache. When Maggie discovers her husband cheating on her, that’s one thing. But to find out he is gay and has been lying to her for years that’s another. When Maggie and her daughter Hayley, are at a grocery store, that’s when her world turns around. A long lost friend who she gave her innocence too, appears. Jerry has always thought about Maggie and now he has the chance for a future. Things are going well, but when the truth about the past comes into play, Maggie finds out more about Jerry and her ex. The man who took everything from her, and lied about certain things, all because of money. It’s interesting and I want to read the next book on Maggie and Jerry’s future.
This book was so funny! I especially liked how all the ladies met and formed their group. Maggie is most definitely not looking for love again when she finds her husband cheating with another man of all things. The other ladies throw out a bet when the boy she loved years ago comes back into town and they run into each other. The ladies keep the humor going and Maggie has a few hang ups but it all ends well. I think the narrator did an awesome job with all the emotions and different voices for the individuals in the story.
I really liked this book because the heroine Maggie is older, in her 40's. Divorced after wasting her life on a lousy husband who used her to hide his homosexuality. She is reluctant to take a chance on Jeremy. When she does she realizes what love is supposed to be with Jeremy. Of course things happen that blindsided them both. Narrator Nigel Kingsward did a great job bringing this book to life.
