Hunt and the men continue making life better for people of the plains by hunting down murderers and thieves. While doing so, Hunt loses one of his most experienced men to an ambush. Cal and Phyllis announce their plans for marriage and trouble erupts when Cal is confronted by Timmy Galloway, the boy that likes Phyllis that Hunt had ordered to never come around again. Hunt gets a visitor, Beau Hamlin, from Fort Hamilton in New York. He has a meaningful talk to understand what Hunt has in mind for his father’s ranch in Green River before he agrees to sell Hunt the ranch. A trip to Green River turns deadly when one of the ranch hands proclaims that George Hamlin had promised the ranch to him and that Beau has no right to sell it. A visitor from Washington comes to Denver and asks for Hunt’s help to track down a mountain man that has murdered over thirty people and eats them and leaves animal heads on the body after decapitating them.
This volume of Hunt and his deputies has action, long journeys, A cannibal, cattle theft, and justice. The rating is for poor grammar and the author cannot keep his characters straight.
A great western adventure and action packed. The different assignments that Hunt and his U.S. Deputy Marshals face, the dangerous men they have to arrest and transport them back to Denver for arraignment for their charges. Hunt has owns a lot of ranches, pig farms, cattle and he has his own lumber mills, he has vegetable farms which he consumes and he sells to restaurants in the Denver area. The man is a millionaire, he helps those who try to help themselves with giving them jobs to work his ranches and farms. Hunt has his hands full with his personal businesses and he's the head honcho for U.S. Marshals Denver Office that's a lot stress to handle, but he seems to deal with. Hunt isn't the type of man that will back down no matter how dangerous, for example, he and his top men are on an assignment hunting for a "Serial Killer," who started his killings and cannibalism in the country of Romania which he has now brought to shores of America. This is a hot mess everybody and now the Shoshone Indians are tracking this huge giant killing machine. Now Hunt goes along with his Deputies to hunt this monstrosity and kill him. Hunt puts himself in "Harms Way" just as the men he assigns to these death defying circumstances that they face. There's envy jealousy showing their ugly heads, lots of men and women also don't like Hunt, mainly because he's arrested them or shoot their kinfolks and he's extremely wealthy. Such as life, can't get along with everyone..right??
A WLC. Western Marshal Action Adventure (H-USM/V-44) (TCMC)
WLC. has penned a U.S. Marshal western action adventure, which is the 44th novel in the Hunt-US Marshal series. In this case the Denver Office is advised of an almost seven foot murdering cannibal. Hunt, Grey Wolf, Horse and two other deputies are assigned and are ready to capture their target when surrounded by Shoshone Indians searching for the same man. This is an excellent read for the genre.....DEHS
As usual another great book by Mr Cox. This series is full of action and great characters. Would highly recommend this series to everyone that enjoys a great western story.
I really enjoy these books on Hunt U. S. Marshall. I like to see what mischief Horse gets into. These books have action and a little fun in them. Look forward to many more. Thank you W. L. Cox for a great read.
As usual, WL Cox has allowed us to enter the world of the US Marshals and the adventures that take the Marshals into danger and the triumph of Good over Evil! My only wish is that the stories were longer! Thank you for writing about Hunt and company, and for allowing us to pretend that we are riding with the Marshals on their missions! Loved the book!!
