This book explains the different stages of sleep. And, I always have found that quite intrigued. The book makes me want to try and remember what position I am in when I wake up. So far I have not been able to remember. I have always found the idea of sleep really interesting. I started thinking about my bed time rituals. I found some of them and I know that I have tried to incorporate them into my routine such as make sure all the dishes are done etc. But what I feel really intriguing is the cat sleeps 14 hours a day. I believe it. I read an addition of this book that shows it’s age. I remember reading about the interactions of drugs when I was in high school or elementary school and I remember some of these names of drugs that are illegal. I didn’t think that he should cover the drugs that had not been tested for effects on sleep, but this is a statement of his thorough coverage. And, thank you for explaining very technical articles in terms general readers can understand. I would read an updated edition of this book if I could find one. I know that many years have passed since The series beginning‘s of sleep research, but we still all sleep the same. Sleep will continue to be an interesting subject for many years to come. I would recommend this book for those like myself who are wanting a foundation for continuing research into sleep habits and reasons for this all important in all of our lives.
I did not feel that I learned any thing new from this book. of course it was written 42 years ago and most of this stuff has been well covered in the news media. a wasted 4 hours
