St. Paul's Epistle to the Romans is not only one of the most important documents of the early church but a classic of Christianity. It is also very difficult to read. This guide, by a leading scholar, explains Romans in the simplest possible terms to the widest possible readership. It avoids the more difficult and obscure passages and concentrates on those where Paul's meaning can be conveyed to a modern audience.
Quick walk through Romans with Barrett. Can't say I learnt very much, but the pacing through twenty chapters is pleasant and the attempts to explain what can be a confusing letter, written to people whose circumstances we can now only guess at, is appreciable.
It's not really a commentary, it's more of a read along. I didn't really get anything different. A couple of things stood out but other than that, it was okay.
