What orphan could ask for more than life at Grace Field House? Under the watchful eye of Isabella, a woman they affectionately call Mom, the children want for nothing - safety, nourishment, and happiness abound. But when the eldest and brightest orphans—Emma, Norman, and Ray—retrieve a forgotten toy left by a recently “adopted” sibling, they stumble upon a terrifying secret. Beneath Isabella’s nurturing façade lies a reality so dark and twisted, escape isn’t a choice but a necessity for survival. Ray suggests they can only escape by leaving the others, but Emma is adamant—they’ll leave as a family or not at all. Can they beat the ticking clock, outwit “Mom,” and help everyone escape from Grace Field House before it’s too late?

The Promised Neverland is my first Manga read ever, and I’m so glad it was. I’d seen a ton of positive reviews, and the intriguing blurb pulled me in. Despite having tried and struggled with comic books before, I gave it a shot. Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much—Manga, on top of being like comic books, is also one you read backward to forward and right to left! But the cinematic nature of the storytelling caught me off guard. Before I knew it, I was immersed in the story as if I was watching a great television show.

What sets this story apart is the intricate detail it puts into each character’s decision-making process. It felt like watching a Sherlock Holmes story—how these super-intelligent children navigate their way out of one terrifying situation after another is an absolute delight.

So far, I’ve consumed the first four books in this 20-book series. If the rave reviews on Goodreads are anything to go by, I know I’m in for a great ride. For anyone looking for a quick yet captivating read--or someone who’s never tried Manga but is open to it, The Promised Neverland is an excellent choice.

For me, this was unquestionably a five-star read. The orphans’ horrific dilemma (a reveal I don’t want to ruin), the clever decision-making, and the twists were all so original.

The book that I read The Promised Neverland 4 by Kaiu Shirai that entertains the readers. I really enjoyed the book. One thing that I enjoyed about the book is that it is catching to read. Once I started reading the book it was extremely hard to put down. The 3 main characters Emma, Norman, and Ray are the 3 oldest kids in the orphanage that they lived in. They enjoyed living in the orphanage until one day they found out a secret that ruined it all. The book goes into detail about how the 3 older kids live with their orphanage mom and siblings in a world full of these creatures. The book has a lot of good detail and grammar that makes the book understandable but enjoyable at the same time. The book is a graphic novel and the details in the pictures are really drawn out well. If anyone is looking for a good book that keeps you on the edge of your seat and that will be hard to put down I would definitely recommend this book.

I am kinda expecting some major plot twists in the next book. Also why are we losing so many main characters?
