This book follows LONG after the The End series. Nearly 1,000 yrs after. Satan is about to be loosed on the world, following the millennium of peace after the Tribulation and Rapture. This book is pure fantasy and not as "preachy" as the The End series, so many more people may like it because there isn't a lot of scriptural verse, etc.
Allie, who we met in the The End series, is now the Mistress of the Remnant Warriors. She has been in charge of training the other Remnant Warriors and knows Satan's release is coming very, very soon. Frustrated her warriors aren't taking their training seriously, she goes to her Heavenly Father, "Pops" (snicker, yes, she's still as snarky in the Millennium as she was in her teens) to vent about their lackadaisical attitudes. What happens next brings A LOT of action that has poor Allie doubting herself.
I have to say I really enjoyed this book, much more so than the End series. It's, as I said, action packed, but also very humorous. As we watch Allie try to get the lead out of her fellow remnants, and teach God's Angels to loosen up.
Added to the fun is Nick, who Allie held directly after his birth during the Tribulation, who has developed romantic feelings for Allie. Too bad for him she's his boss, and that she still considers him the baby she once helped deliver, even if was almost 1,000 years ago.
She was, way back when, then married to Jaden. But because he was a martyr, and she remnant, they were not allowed to carry their marriage into the millennium. Jaden now reigns with Christ, while Allie is a warrior, and "never the twane shall meet". It makes it awkward when Allie runs into her "Ex" while now lusting after the once infant she helped deliver. She has no idea that Nick is in love with her, and can't understand why he reacts so jealously to her interactions with others. I'm curious to see where this romance goes. I never got a good feeling of chemistry between Allie and Jaden in The End series, they never quite meshed. But, it's gotta hurt not to be allowed to be with him during the millennium. She's never fallen for another man in the past 1,000 years.
Will the remnants be battle ready for Satan's release? Will more Angels fall? Will Nick breach her hearts defenses? I can't wait to find out!
