He’d taken too long to return to me.

To consider me.

To put his pride aside and submit to his love for me.

Now that he was here again, superiority belonged to me.

Maurice & Emoni

I was so glad to get their story!!! I thought that he cheated on her, but to see the pain that he went through...gosh my heart just breaks for him. To guilt he carries around I could never understand. I hope he gets the help he deserves. I know the love that Emoni and Maurice have for each will weather any storm to come.

Different topic, Great read!

I admit that when Maurice was mentioned in The Passions We Share and seeing Moni's sadness, I thought he was a typical trash fboi. So color me surprised to see that all that was going on with him. Kudos to Ms. Swint for tackling a relevant issue not often associated with or discussed about our black men. Great story!

I just...

I just want to hug Maurice because black men do not deal with their emotions the way they should and it’s important for them to have a strong support system in their corner. Whew. My heart. This was powerful. 🖤

Beautifully written!

I felt this book! There is nothing like the strength of a black woman.
Emoni and Maurice’s was such a powerful yet heartfelt story. Maurice needed to forgive himself first. He was running from Moni instead of running to her.

Nice read serious subject

Emomi and Maurice are a couple in love but one is dealing with depression Maurice. Emoni can't figure out what's wrong with him which causes them to go on a two-week break up. Maurice must now confess that he's not feeling like himself. They now must figure out how to address this issue and deal with it.

More!

Depression is a topic that isn’t discussed enough honestly, it’s being brought up more but we as people still don’t know how to deal with it. Maurice and Emoni story was touching, I would like a follow up from this in the future. I enjoyed this read, very much.

Whheeewww chillleee Shanice you did it AGAIN!

Maurice is a representation of black men and how they deal or not deal with their mental health. I'm glad he realized when things were getting worse for him, but I hate that he pushed Emoni away. His parents are so strong and they were his reality check as well as Emoni.

Black people especially men go through things and we need to start addressing the issues when they appear and seeking counsel and not running away from them or pretending they dont exist.

Emoni and Maurice!!!

Real issues on deck. Mental health is something that black men and women need to pay more attention to. Maurice was blessed to have a support system in place. Many people don't have that and they lose themselves in mental illness. Shanice wrote this story beautifully and it tugged on my heartstrings as I can relate to mental illness and how it affects people. Great job bringing awareness.

So Good

Maurice was carrying around a lot of guilt because of what happened to his brothers. He didn't know how to forgive himself. This caused him to push Emoni away. She really loved Maurice. I am just us happy ☺☺. They finally are together..

Emotional

Right from the beginning, I thought there was going to be a man to hate! Lol... But to then find out the pain, heartbreak and agony Maurice was going through, you rooted for him. Moni's love was unwavering, and it was beautiful. Although the story was short, I could really feel the emotions the characters were going through. Another great story! 👍

Depression is Real

Depression not only affects women but men as well. Most African American men won't seek help as was the case with Maurice. I felt like he was being wishy washy with Emoni until he explained what he was going through and why. I'm glad that she's sticking by his side to help him through.

Emoni’s a real one

This book hits a topic that’s usually off limits or ignored in many African American relationships. I liked book one of this series because it was an untraditional pure love and this book didn’t disappoint.

Too short

Ok I knew it was a novella but felt it was too short to address everything that was going on with Maurice and Emoni. Lots of unanswered questions from what felt like a 20 page pamphlet 🤷🏽‍♀️

So cute!

This short love story was really good. Depression is tough but when you have good supportive people in your corner, you can overcome anything. I loved this book, it was short and to the point. ❤️

Love through Heartache

Short, sexy and a great read. This is a well written and edited love story about Emoni and Maurice. One has to learn to trust the other with their mental health issues and the other has to deal with the heartache that is causing their relationship.
