Eh, it's okay, but it's my least favorite Lisa Harris book. I just kept wanting to yell at the characters as they stepped right back into danger, and there was a lot of financial detail that grew a bit tedious. I had a hard time bonding with any of the folks in the story. Just not really my thing.
My personal Rating- Three Stars Not my favorite Lisa Harris book, but for a Love Inspired Suspense book is wasn’t bad and I enjoyed all the Spiritual Content. It was a bit strange to see my name so many times, hahaha! Because this was published in 2008, there were a few parts that seemed dated or a little too “the more you know” about the internet scamming. It was an easy read, but not very suspenseful.
This is one of the worst books I've ever read. I finished it because I generally finish books and because I was house-bound during a hurricane. The writer isn't a bad writer, but this book was a public service announcement against those email scams where someone overseas needs 'help' to get a large amount of money from a bank account and if you will 'just' send him some of your money he will send you millions. Because of her need to 'preach' about this danger, she sacrificed all good plot devices. As soon as she introduced the 'bad guy,' I knew who he was. I often suspect the right bad guy. But I'm pretty sure anyone who reads this book will *know* who it is right away. There was no one else to suspect. I won't bother with all the other things wrong ... just wanted to warn people off. It's an old book, so luckily I bought it at a used bookstore. But it wasn't worth the $0.66 I paid for it. Sorry to be harsh. Truth hurts.
A great suspense more about "How did this happen" than "Who done it". This is a modern day problem of fraud and how Lindsey's father could even let this happen. The struggle with despair on a spiritual level for Lindsey through her trials was especially relatable.
I found this story most enlightening about scam artists. How do you get the facts when your father is so closed mouth about his life? Lindsey is in danger & just trying to learn why. Her father is blinded by the truth & too trusting of the scam artist. This is a page-turner & heart bounding. I requested my library purchase it which they did so I was able to read it.
I found Lindsey very brave to deal with the happenings around her. Kyle had to work within his limits though. I almost got scammed some years ago and the person said he was from London. It’s a scary world these days.
Wonderful little suspenseful romance! Unfortunately, it was just so quick! But I loved that the author exposed how internet scams can work with a sweet romance that seems plausible.
Have to say this one after all was said and done was very good. The father, a really intelligent man falls for A common e-mail scam and loses everything. The daughter, Lindsey who was described as smart and beautiful teams of with A man she went to college with, Kyle, and as they help bring down the scammers, they slowly fall in love. The best part about it the story line of helping the father was always upfront, while the love story stayed in the background.
Lindsay's retired father falls for an online money scam and loses his life savings and much more. She reunites with an old friend, Kyle, who has started his own security business because his brother committed suicide as a result of an online scandal, so he tries to help Lindsay find the scammers before it is too late and they kill her father. Her father fell for the scheme because he felt guilty of his wife's death from cancer, he thought if he had more money then he could have done so much for her in the lines of treatment and so on. It's hard to say what a guilty mind will do, especially someone who is gullible under the circumstances. I liked the plot of the story but it just didn't have enough action in it for me. Too much of a slow read for me.
Not much relationship here, between the characters or with God. Mostly all about how Internet scams work. For the better part of 200 pages. I can do that research myself -- not really what I'm looking for when I read Christian fiction. I haven't read any other books by this author, so maybe she was just really passionate about this subject; her other stuff could be different for all I know.
oh. my. gosh. this was the first love inspired romantic suspense i've read, but it held everything i needed to continue.it was a really good book, especially when kyle FINALLY realized what his true feelings were :D
