This is a very helpful book in noticing and developing parallel stories and details with antecedent Scripture. Highly recommended for this sort of literary analysis and for anyone interpreting the book of Samuel with Biblical Theological methods.

As with most literary critics Miscall pays attention to structure and key words to show amazing connections. Unfortunately, like many literary critics Miscall tries to use his own ingenuity to suggest counter readings that run against the text.
