Reissued in 1975, this 1950 work is a major revision of a 1902 volume by William James Anderson and Richard Phene Spiers, which may account for its formalistic feel. Dinsmoor offers a chronological description of key temples and other buildings, interspersing big-picture analysis among highly detailed specifics.
