You will be transported to far off lands and captivated by an emotional journey as Marni discovers five lessons that will inspire you to find your own path in life and perhaps even plan your own adventure. How a Gorilla, Orphan, and Monk Saved My Life is a must-read for anyone wanting to travel the world, dealing with change, grief, or loss, or searching for the best version of themselves.
I really admire Marni for embarking on her amazing solo travels, and that her experiences involved not only some R&R but also volunteer opportunities as well, and I really like that she took the time to consciously analyze her role and impact as a tourist. I think she'd be an awesome travel companion! I do wish the book had included a map or itinerary to give the reader some context about where we were going and for how long, and I wish the cover had commas, so I wasn't left wondering when the orphaned gorilla was going to show up! :-D
This is a great book for anyone who is thinking of travelling or someone who wishes they could travel. Marni has written a wonderful personal experience through the loss of her parents and her identity and how she gained confidence and intelligence through travel and different cultures and experiences.
