’Tis the season for forgiveness… Is this the first step to their second chance?
Lance Drummond doesn’t do Christmas…not after the tragic loss of his daughter or the painful divorce that followed. But when his ex-wife, Erin, is injured, Lance moves in temporarily to help her make the holidays perfect for her nephews. Amid all the merrymaking, Lance realizes he’s falling for Erin again. After so much heartache, can love bring them back together?
A self-professed crazy chicken lady, Danica Favorite loves the adventure of living a creative life. She loves to explore the depths of human nature and follow people on the journey to happily ever after. Though the journey is often bumpy, those bumps are what refine imperfect characters as they live the life God created them for. Oops, that just spoiled the ending of all of Danica’s stories. Then again, getting there is all the fun.
I bought this book because it was about Christmas, and redemption. Redemption is what Christmas is all about. Lance and Erin experienced a great loss with the death of their little daughter. A loss that led to their divorce. Everyone grieves differently but there were other reasons their marriage didn't last. This story explores the depth of their emotions and what led to their family falling apart. As they work together to find peace over their daughter's death, they come to realize there is more to their love for each other than their loss can erase.
Danica Favorite is one of my favorite authors! Her stories make me feel and make me think. The kind of thinking that is self-assessment. I learn from reading her stories. This story gave me insights into why my Mother may have been so consumed with Christmas. I'll have to ask her about it when I join her in heaven one day!
Just could not get into this one. After the first two chapters I did a skipping read. I applaud the plug for counseling .. see that I am in the minority with other readers .. just not the right time for me to read this maybe.
Parts of the book were good - and other parts were cringing. I appreciated the story line and I enjoyed reading Lance’s progression of healing and heart change. I thought Erin was a bit over the top and in a lot of ways manipulative and demanding. I think the author dropped the ball as some of the things that Erin reacted to where a bit extreme. Taking A phone call in another room is not putting family before work. — There were a few others instances where it seemed like overreacting. I also would of liked Erin to see the error of her ways and the defects in her own character.
This is the third book in Three Sisters Ranch series. This is Erin and Lance's story of their marriage breakup after the tragic death of their daughter and their struggles to"move on." Lance is sent by his therapist to come and make peace with Erin on what happened between them. Erin is watching her nephews while their mom is on her honeymoon, falls and gets hurt, and Lance winds up staying to help with the boys. The boys add spunk and laughter to the story. Good read!
Great story of forgiveness and redemption through love with each other and in God. I will never for the life of me understand two people walking away from each other during a time when they need each other most, but I know the divorce rates prove it's pretty common. I love the fact that they got their happy ending though!
I think this book is so very close to true life. I think losing a child is one of the most awful thing to happen to anyone (no matter the child's age). This book will break your heart but then it will give you the faith that anything is possible!
Our past can really affect how we approach life. It can be unconscious but lead to bad results - until we open our eyes to what is really important. This is a great read!
Hard topic of child loss, but the story of healing was very good. Also did not realize this was book 3 of the series could be a stand alone as I did not feel like I was missing something in the story.
This book was really sad. The twist in how the main character feels a smidge of what his wife went through was a twist that evoked emotion. It was a quick read, just a bit sad for a Christmas story.
