A great review of the maya salt trade and the starting point for anyone looking into how the maya state came about. With it being nearly 40 years old however, added to the fact that more research throughout the region is constantly being carried out an update to this amazing work could be (may already have been) carried out.
I recommend this work to anyone with an interest in the maya or the formation of a nation as a whole.
