The colours give the final portion of the ENORMOUS run of Krazy Kat a new dimension for Herriman to play with, but I do think I preferred the black and white, the shading and characters popped much better. That being said, I loved every second I spent reading the comic strip, all the way from the proto-K.K. strips and the other oddities, to the full 1916-1944 K.K. Sunday run, plus any dailies I could find. This one is the platonic ideal of a newspaper comic strip.
