Mountain Mermaids of Sapphire Lake #10

Lost to the Deep: Mountain Mermaids

Rate this book
All Jaxxen wanted to do was go back to sleep—forever. But no, his baby brother had to go and break the ancient curse that kept them bound to the lake by finding his mate. Good for him, but Jaxxen had never planned on a happily-ever-after for himself. Since his brother had gone through the trouble of brutally waking him up, Jaxxen might as well surface one last time to meet his new sister and wish them the best. Except he never expected to meet a fiery goddess with the mouth of a seasoned warrior. No, her flailing fists, and other body parts, were definitely not part of his—make small talk, go back to the bottom of the lake and sleep until the end of time—life plan. And even worse, she’s making claims she knows nothing about. Claims that could have him feeling things he never wanted to feel. Blaire was tired of waiting. She’d seen the mate mark when she was just a teenager and wasted no time finding out what it meant. She was a mate of the deep. Jaxxen was hers and he had the audacity to tell her, “No thanks” like his word was law? Unacceptable. Even if she could make herself believe she doesn’t need him, she didn’t wait all this time for her prince to come only to take no for an answer from a black-eyed barbarian with a chip on his shoulder. He could get on board or they could spend eternity fighting about it, because she’d go down to the deep and get him before she let him have his way. She won’t let Jaxxen be lost, because she’d be lost too. And she knew they were meant to find each other.

Funny, Sweet, Sexy, and Snarky

Desiree Lafawn continues her story line from her Mountain Mermaids (Sapphire Lake) series book Shiny Dancer, with her latest creation, Lost to the Deep.

This very talented author writes like a professional storyteller, with humor, excitement, romance, and sass. We again meet Jaxxon, a merman who does not think he deserves any happiness. He is about to find out just how completely wrong he is when his mate finds him, again.

I cannot stress just how much fun it was to read this book! Desiree uses the written word to blanket us with feelings. Some exciting and erotic, and some justifiably painful.

Because, when the heart is involved, this beautiful author allows us entrance to her world!

It took Jaxxon a while to figure out what was right in front of his nose and realize that having a mate isn't such a bad thing. Blaire has been waiting and searching for the Mer-man that she had seen when she was just a teenager. I love the stories of Saphire Falls and the cursed vikings that live in the lake. Jaxxon and Blaire were a couple that were soo different from the previous couples and that's what I love about this series and that it's written by different authors, each story is unique and each couple has quirks that are all their own.

I absolutely loved this book!! I had read all the other books in this series and Shiny Dancer was prior to this one and I was really hoping for a follow up story. I am so glad she wrote one! I love the characters in this book and the previous book Shiny Dancer. Jaxxon is a hot alpha and Blaire is her own person but they work so well together. I would love to see more of them in another book!

I was excited for this after learning about Jaxxon in his brothers book. It didn't disappoint! Such a romantic story of Blaire seeing her mate knowing he is out there and waiting for him, wishing for him. Then he shows up and he's a jerk!! The story of him getting his head out of his a$$ and falling for this wonderful girl was fun!
I really like this series and will definitely be reading more.

I tried but couldn't really get into this book. The introduction between Blaire and Jaxxen was bizarre and the whole I'm your mate and you should recognize me was more pathetic of Blaire than anything in my opinion in terms of how it came across as written. Then there's the I don't want a mate and I'm going back to sleep for Jaxxen until a pushy but utterly silent sea serpent convinces him after a few slaps with its body.

I am not a fan of the writing, dialogue, or characters including Kris and Cali. George was livening the book up nicely until Jaxxen came back into the picture, and since his character seemed to be an interesting one I almost kept pushing through to the end which I intended to do at first.

Mermen society and Blaire's fear of the lake I feel may be interconnected but I wasn't curious enough to find out by reading.

I am so enjoying every one novel in this series!

I haven’t left a review for every single novel in this series because I’ve been too excited to get on to the next one! But this one about Jaxxon and Blarie was especially special! And I loved how it tied into Kris and Charli’s story! I am loving every single episode of the Mountain Mermaids (Sapphire Lake)! Highly recommend!

Short and sweet! I honestly loved this book! I thought the 2 main characters were perfect for each other and I like that I didn’t have to read the whole series to understand what was happening! The ending felt kind of abrupt but other than that this was a great book!

Cute. 🥰 Loved it

And it left with a mystery. Can't wait for the next book. I love how this one started in the process book, and how it followed and opened for another
